With only a month left until the release of Square Enix and Acquire's highly anticipated sequel Octopath Traveler 2, the full cast of playable characters such as Ochette is finally coming together. The soon-to-be-released RPG Octopath Traveler 2 will be the third installment in the popular series after the 2020 mobile game, and will continue to expand the world of Square Enix's multilayered narrative franchise. This time there will be a whole new selection of characters for players to explore with and a new setting to experience, in addition to some other changes from the previous titles.
Gamers will still be able to choose between eight playable characters that each represent a different class, and who will have their own unique stories and set of goals to uncover as well. As Octopath Traveler 2 unfolds, gamers will be able to pick the tale they wish to follow; each character's personal quest plays out and interacts with the others more intricately than ever before. To introduce the new setting and set of protagonists, Square Enix has been releasing character trailers in the build up to Octopath Traveler 2's release, with the latest focusing on Apothecary Castti and Hunter Ochette.
Ochette's Background Breakdown
Characters have turns their time in the spotlight during Square Enix's trailers, with various clips focusing on characters like the Merchant Partitio, Thief Throne, and Scholar Osvald. The latest of these showcased Hunter Ochette, not only introducing her own unique tale, but her Path Actions and abilities as well.
Ochette's journey begins on the isle of Toto'haha in Southeastern Solistia. First encountered by continental pioneers twenty years ago, Toto'haha is home to both beastlings like Ochette and humans inhabitants who occasionally cause trouble for the animal-eared islanders. All seems well until Ochette learns of the Night of the Scarlet Moon, an encroaching disaster that threatens her friends and her way of life. The intrepid Hunter must set out to find the Creatures of Legend and bring them back to her island home to stop this calamity.
The Hunter Class In Octopath Traveler 2
Octopath Traveler 2 will feature special Path Actions unique to each character that will let them interact with NPCs, unearth useful items, and discover vital information in addition to other activities. Each Octopath 2 character will have two Path Actions, one that could be used during the game's night cycle and one for the daytime. During the daylight hours, Ochette can use Provoke against either a monster or an NPC in order to initiate a battle. After a successful combat encounter, the target will be knocked unconscious, but if Ochette fails too many times, her reputation will plummet and she won't be able to use Path Actions as a result.
When it's nighttime in Octopath Traveler 2's new day-night cycle, Ochette becomes more genial to those around her and is able to befriend townsfolk. Ochette will have opportunities to take her newfound friends along on her quest and even call on them in battle. It won't be as simple as just saying hello, however, as Ochette will need to have special items in order to properly befriend an NPC. In addition to her Path Actions, Ochette can also capture monsters and transform them into items or summon them in battles as well. When her gauge is full, Ochette can unleash her Latent Power as she gets in touch with her animal instincts and uses powerful physical attacks like Beastly Claws and Beastly Fangs.
