The metropolis of New Delsta is the biggest city in Octopath Traveler 2, and it's a big change from the usual atmosphere of fantasy games. New Delsta has fully embraced the style and technology of the Industrial Revolution, and it's the home of the protagonist Throné.

New Delsta is also the home of a lot of people who need something, but who don't always know what they need. That makes their side stories a bit tricky to solve, at least compared to most other side stories in the first tier of settlements in Octopath Traveler 2. That's why this guide will explain exactly what players need to do to complete each of the four side quests in New Delsta.

The Bourgeois Boy

Octopath Traveler 2 The Bourgeois Boy

Players will find the Wealthy Boy in question in a private house just to the left of the inn. He'll ask the party for a grape, but if players give him a Healing Grape he'll throw it away and give the party a measly 5 leaves. Next, he'll ask for a plum, and if players give him an Inspiriting Plum he'll throw it away again and give the party a "generous" 24 leaves. After that, the boy will ask for a grape again.

The real solution to this side story is to give the boy nothing and track down his father. The Wealthy Boy's neighbor will mention that his father went off to Canalbrine, and players can find an NPC named Wealthy Boy's Father in the Canalbrine church. Use any method to make him a follower and bring him back to the Wealthy Boy, at which point he'll put an end to his child's antics. The reward for doing so is 9,000 leaves and a Sharp Nut (M).

Utterly Exhausted!

Octopath Traveler 2 Utterly Exhausted

Players will find an Exhausted Man standing by the entrance to the theater. He's tired all the time, in large part because he's worried someone is watching him. Players can use a knockdown Action to give him some rest, but this won't solve his problem.

Instead, players should check behind a tree to the Exhausted Man's right. It would seem he really is being watched by an Aggravated Woman, and players must do something about her. Use a knockdown Action to force a confrontation, and watch as things go unexpectedly well. The reward for success is 6,000 leaves and a Dragon's Scarf. The Dragon's Scarf gives the wearer SP after every action, making it a must-have for characters who burn through SP fast.

A Gambling Man

Octopath Traveler 2 A Gambling Man

In the Backstreets of New Delsta, players will spot a Concerned Wife who's trying to keep her husband from spending all his money at the Game Parlor. Like before, players can use a knockdown Action during the day to stop him from going, but that doesn't solve the problem.

Instead, players should head into the Game Parlor and speak to a Dealer who's available both day and night. Getting his information will give players the Truth of the Game Parlor knowledge item, and sharing it with the Concerned Wife will let her convince her husband that the house always wins. The reward for doing so is the Victory Ring and an Energizing Pomegranate. The Victory Ring is another special item that gives +20 to physical attack and an attack buff at the start of each combat.

A Devilishly Delicious Dish

Octopath Traveler 2 Devilishly Delicious Dish

The last New Delsta side story is found in the city's tavern. The Tavern Cook wants to prove his worth to the owner, and he thinks he can do so if he gets his hands on a Delsta Devil. He then mentions that they're found in a cave to the east.

Specifically, he's referring to the Sunken Maw, a cave dungeon that's just south of the Western Clockbank Highroad. Players can only get to it by boat, and the cave's danger level is 34. Fortunately, the Delsta Devil isn't a boss monster, so a party with an average level of 25 or better should be good enough to survive the area.

Once inside, follow the main path to reach a house hidden in the back. The Elderly Fishing Enthusiast explains that Delsta Devils require special bait, and players can get the Special Bait item from him using any of the usual methods. With the bait in hand, players should take the nearby ladder down and then head right across the water. Use the Special Bait over the shadow in the water to summon the Delsta Devil. The Devil has 4 shields and is weak to polearms, daggers, arrows, and lightning. It also drops a Strengthening Serum when it falls.

With the Delsta Devil beaten, players can bring it back to the Tavern Cook for 5,000 leaves, a Master Rod, and a Chef's Ladle. The two weapons may have unusual names, but they're legitimately good items at this point in the game.

Octopath Traveler 2 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, and Switch.
