Cropdale is a small but lovely village in the Leaflands, and it's the hometown of the Octopath Traveler 2 protagonist Agnea. There's not much to do in this sleepy town, but there are still people who need the party's help with their side stories.

Both side stories are close together and fairly easy to find, although one of them is unusual in Octopath Traveler 2 for being only available at night. Neither of them is very difficult, but players will have to follow some clues and check the local area to solve one of them.

The Soused Nobleman

Octopath Traveler 2 Soused Nobleman

This side story is only available at night because, during the day, the tavern is mostly empty. The Tavern Assistant will complain to the party that a nobleman shows up every night, gets drunk, and makes a scene, and she wishes someone could do something to put a stop to it.

What the nobleman needs is an interruption in his nightly routine, and that means using a knockdown Path Action. Since he only shows up at night, only the nighttime actions Soothe or Ambush will work. Once he wakes back up, the nobleman has a sober chat with the tavern staff and agrees to stick with peach juice if they agree to let him complain about his family.

The grateful staff will thank the party with 4,000 leaves and a Prosperity Charm. The charm increases the number of leaves dropped after each battle by 10 percent, and it stacks with the 10 percent given by the Merchant support skill Grows on Trees. Players should equip the charm right away on their protagonist to start bringing in the cash.

Crop Revival

Octopath Traveler 2 Crop Revival

Right by the town save point is a Weaver who loves the Crop style of textiles but worries that it's going extinct. She wants a weaving pattern that the old Cropdale weavers used so she can bring it back, but she's had no luck in finding one.

In the cottage to the left of the Weaver, players can find an Elderly Woman who remembers her mother using an old weaving pattern. She also mentions her son and players will find him on the Forest Path north of the village. He's here both day and night, so players can use whatever info-gathering Action they prefer (Inquire, Scrutinize, Bribe, or Coerce). This will reveal a hidden item in the nearby abandoned mill, and the item will turn out to be a Crop Tapestry Pattern. Bring it back to the Weaver for 3,000 leaves, an Invigorating Nut, and an Inspiriting Plum (M).

Octopath Traveler 2 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, and Switch.
