The Beastling Village (also called the Beasting Village on the game's map) is the home of Ochette, one of the eight protagonists of Octopath Traveler 2. She's not allowed to visit the human side of the village during her introduction, but after that, players are free to explore the whole village and the whole island.

Whether players start Octopath Traveler 2 with Ochette or with a different protagonist, they'll find several locals with problems only they can solve. One of these side quests can be completed while in town, but for the other one, players will need to explore deeper into the islands of Toto'haha.

The NPC who starts this side story is easy to spot: just check by the well on the human side of the village. This Human Boy wants to get to know a beastling his age, but he has no idea how to start things off, thanks to the prejudice his family has against beastlings. However, he's heard of an old beastling custom of giving an amulet to someone to become their friend.

To get this amulet, players will need to visit the beastling side of the village and look for a young Beastling Girl. During the day, she stands on the ground below the inn. One of her possessions is the Amulet of Affection, and players will need to get it off her somehow. Steal, Purchase, and Entreat can work, but Mug won't since she's a child.

With the amulet in hand, return to the Human Boy, and he'll do the rest, giving the party a Critical Nut and a Resistant Nut as a reward. After the quest completes, players can spot both kids chatting together on the path between the two sides of the village.

Culinary Cunning Guide

Octopath Traveler 2 Culinary Cunning

On the upper level of the Beastling Village is someone known as the Cooking Enthusiast. A human once shared their food with the beastling, and it included some "tingly meat" that they want to try again. The Cooking Enthusiast has no idea where the traveler went, but a Trapper on the human side of town will mention the great food in Tropu'hopu, the second town in Toto'haha. Tropu'hopu isn't hard to find, but the road there has a danger level of 18.

In Tropu'hopu, players should head onto the docks and go to the Floating Theater area. There's a Street Vendor right by the entrance, day and night, and players who get her information will also get a Spicy Chicken Recipe.

That's exactly what the Cooking Enthusiast was looking for, so head back to get a reward of 3,000 leaves and the Gluttonous Glaive. The glaive is a good weapon for th game, but remember that its accuracy is -40.

Octopath Traveler 2 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, and Switch.
