PlayStation 5's gameplay reveal event may have stolen the show today, revealing a whole bunch of new games coming to the next-generation console including the next entry in the Resident Evil series. However, Sony wasn't the only one showcasing upcoming games with the second day of IGN's Summer of Gaming event featuring exclusive reveals, trailers, and demos, including a brand new gameplay trailer for Bloober Team's next-generation horror game, Observer: System Redux.

Bloober Team is the developer to watch out for when it comes to horror games, having developed a number of big games including Layers of Fear 2, Blair Witch, and the upcoming Xbox Series X exclusive, The Medium. The studio is currently working on a next-gen remake of its 2017 cyberpunk horror game Observer, and its latest Observer: System Redux gameplay trailer shows off an in-depth look into improvements coming to the remake, thanks to the power of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.

Featuring over 9-minutes of gameplay from Observer: System Redux, the new trailer offers players a first glimpse into Bloober Teams vision for the remake including gameplay improvements and brand new story content that will be exclusive to this version of the game. First of all, players can expect the obvious upgrades for 4K resolution, 60 frames per second gameplay, shortened loading times, and support for both HDR and Ray-Tracing. However, Bloober Team has completely "rebuilt and upgraded the visuals in practically every aspect," meaning there will be enhanced 4k textures, new higher-quality animations and character models, and an upgraded lighting system which allows for volumetric lighting, improved particle effects, and improved simulations.

Observer: System Redux also includes brand new story content that wasn't in the original game, expanded the world of this dark dystopian cyberpunk future. The new story content includes additional puzzles, new interrogation sequences, and brand new storyline called Her Fearful Symmetry, described as "a psychotic love story explored through the lens of the game’s dystopian and trans-humanist themes." Bloober Team has estimated that all of the additional story content will mean the game is roughly 20% longer than the original Observer, released in 2017.

Bloober Team has clearly put significant time and effort into this remake, creating an exciting next-generation horror game that new players can pick up at launch with their new consoles, while still offering something new for long-term fans. For those who can't wait until the end of the year, the original Observer is available for free on Twitch Prime for the entire month of June. All that one needs to do is sign-up for Twitch Prime before the end of the month, or alternatively, link one's Amazon Prime account to Twitch to reap all the same benefits.
