What was hailed as one of the top 10 best PS5 launch games, Observer: System Redux will soon be available on more consoles. Originally, Bloober Team upgraded and expanded the original Observer for next-gen systems, adding things like ray-tracing and DualSence controller support for Sony's console. Now, Observer: System Redux is coming to both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One this summer with even more improvements.

The developer recently shared a release date trailer that revealed the launch date for both the digital and physical versions, launching on July 16, 2021. It's being promoted as the definitive version, containing improved gameplay and 3 new story cases. For those unaware, Observer is a psychological horror game played from a first-person perspective. Though it contains many cyberpunk elements, it's much different than the well-known one by CD Projekt Red. However, it still contains many familiar tropes from the genre, such as hacking.

This somewhat obscure horror title has managed to stick out when it released back in 2017, receiving positive reviews and earning a spot as one of the 10 scariest games on PS4 and Xbox One. It begins the way many players would expect, placing them in the shoes of a cybernetically-enhanced protagonist who navigates a gritty cyberpunk city set in Krakow, Poland shortly after a digital plague.

As he investigates the murder of his son, this disturbing and engrossing story gets stranger and stranger. Those looking for scares will find plenty, and the reoccurring visual hallucinations are sure to mess with their heads. This summer, more people than ever will be able to experience the best possible version of this acclaimed horror title.

Observer: System Redux is available now for PS5 and Xbox One, and is releasing on PS4 and Xbox One on July 16, 2021.
