Releasing back in 2017, Bloober Team’s haunting cyberpunk horror game, Observer, became something of a genre hit at the time. Combining unnerving environmental design, a shady neon aesthetic, and an intriguing gameplay mechanic in which the player could hack the minds of deceased victims, it quickly became a beloved indie horror game. Fans never forgot about the brilliant horror gem and it appears Bloober Team didn't either, as a brand-new announcement from the studio appears to hint that it's not quite done with its terrifying cyberpunk world just yet.

Revealed by a short clip posted to Bloober Team’s Twitter page, it appears a sequel to Observer is currently underway. While the footage itself doesn’t explicitly reveal the tease is for a follow-up to the beloved horror title, eagle-eyed fans in the comments section of the post have identified a number of damning clues that all but confirm this is indeed Observer 2.

While the clip itself is simply a looping logo with a few lines of code above it, one commenter has managed to decipher the code, with it supposedly reading “Daniel are you there?” As fans will no doubt know, Daniel was the protagonist of the first Observer, pursuing a lead on his son Adam as he arrived at a mysterious apartment complex. His fate is left down to the choices made by players, but his presence alone appears to cement that this is indeed a sequel to the original game. Another commenter also rightly recognizes the logo as being that of Chiron Incorporated, which was the shady corporation at the center of the previous game’s mystery.

The reactions to the Twitter post have been unanimously positive, with fans discussing their love for the original game and Bloober Team’s style in general. Hopefully, Observer’s return will result in another horror gem, especially seen as the studio’s abilities have evolved a lot since they developed the original game back in 2017.

Of course, in that time Bloober Team has grown vastly as a studio. Not only has the team published an acclaimed sequel to Layers of Fear, but it also developed a major video game adaptation of The Blair Witch Project. While the game received mixed reactions, it shows that Bloober Team has evolved far past its origins as an obscure indie horror studio, managing to secure big licenses and work on increasingly progressive titles.

A sequel to Observer is in development for an unspecified release date.
