The Star Wars franchise is widely known for its out-of-this-world adventures, but Obi-Wan Kenobi actress Moses Ingram is bringing light to something else that should be praised within the company that brings these other worlds to life.

Ingram revealed recently that at the Star Wars Celebration, in honor of Obi-Wan Kenobi's Disney Plus debut, she didn’t recognize Rupert Friend, even though they had already worked together on set while filming the new Star Wars series.

This was due to the advanced prosthetic makeup used on Friend to bring the character The Grand Inquisitor to life. The makeup used by the prosthetic artists transformed Friend, making his skin a pale almost pastel white shade and giving him a bulging head. Friend discussed the hair and makeup process with Total Film, stating, “When filming, my day began very, very early." He continued, "It began in the middle of the night with me, my prosthetic artists, and a lot of coffee. It was three in the morning when we started. Then everyone else would arrive around seven, just as we were finishing the four hours it took, and then the day began."

Friend went on to share a funny tale to display how impressive the skills of the Obi-Wan Kenobi prosthetics team are. "A lot of my colleagues, Moses Ingram included, had never seen my face. When I saw her (at Star Wars Celebration) she didn't recognize me. I was like, 'Moses! Moses!' and she thought I was some crazy fan." Ingram told Total Film the same story, saying she recognized the voice but was struggling to match Friend's face to what she was hearing. However, when she came to realize it was Friend she said it felt “surreal.”

This story, although playful and fun, shows the effort that is put behind the scenes by makeup artists and the actors who have to sit through hours and hours of makeup just to bring these characters to life for the world to see. "Surreal" is how Ingram described seeing Friend for the first time without makeup, however, for many fans of the iconic franchise, it's vice versa. Seeing The Grand Inquisitor brought to life is something many fans have waited for, as well as the return of Obi-Wan Kenobi to the Star Wars franchise.
