Nvidia pretty much holds the cards when it comes to ray tracing in video games. While the technology has existed for many years, it's through the release of the company's RTX graphics cards, such as the recently-announced RTX 3090 Ti, that seems to really be the key to unlocking this visual potential, at least in gaming. As can be imagined, games, especially AAA releases, are interested in this graphical industry standard. While many titles do support it already, not all games do. Luckily, the company has said that RTX will be spreading itself out even more.

According to a recent report from VG247, Nvidia has announced that ten additional titles will be getting ray tracing, though there doesn't seem to be any indication of when. Of the ten games, perhaps the two biggest ones on the list are Hitman 3 and Rainbow Six Extraction, which is due out towards the latter part of this month and logically should come with RTX already onboard. It also seems a little surprising that Hitman 3 doesn't already support RTX, given that it's a very modern, as well as a triple AAA, release, but it will be good news for fans of both the game and ray tracing to see that it will be getting it at some point.

There are a number of other games on the list, including the multiplayer FPS Escape from Tarkov, the action RPG Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis, as well as The Day Before, Super People, Voidtrain, The Anacrusis, Ratten Reich, and Midnight Ghost Hunt. Given this list, it would suggest that Nvidia is keen to enable support for not just current games, but ones that are due for release as well.

Nvidia's RTX is already supported by many popular games, such as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Metro Exodus, and Battlefield 5. There's even RTX versions of Minecraft, as well as the classic 1997 PC shooter Quake 2. There's a certain versatility to the technology which the company seems keen to show off in all manner of games.

On top of all this, it looks as though Nvidia may be getting ready to move into the next era of graphical technology. With the RTX 4000 series rumored to be coming mid-2022, there's a lot that's going on with the tech industry. With GPUs coming out left, right, and center, as well as more and more games getting ray tracing support, the next few months are going to be interesting for PC and gaming enthusiasts.
