Highlights

  • GeForce NOW added Battle.net integration on February 29.
  • The move saw the streaming service offer support for Diablo 4, Hearthstone, Overwatch 2, and the recent Call of Duty games.
  • Nvidia also confirmed at least 22 other titles will be coming to its streaming platform in March.

The Nvidia GeForce Now library has expanded to encompass a handful of high-profile Activision Blizzard games, including Diablo 4 and multiple recent Call of Duty entries. These additions are just the tip of the streaming platform's late winter content iceberg, with GeForce NOW already confirming nearly two dozen new arrivals for March 2024.

As part of its efforts to get the Activision Blizzard acquisition over the finish line, Microsoft signed content licensing agreements with a number of streaming platforms over the course of 2023. This was meant to convince European regulators that the company wouldn't try to monopolize the nascent cloud gaming market by withholding titles like Call of Duty from Xbox Cloud Gaming rivals. One of those agreements was made with Nvidia, which later even went to bat for Microsoft to defend its Activision Blizzard acquisition.

Microsoft hence started coming good on its pledge to bring Call of Duty games to GeForce Now. The Redmond-based tech giant previously committed to keeping the hit FPS franchise on Nvidia's streaming service for a decade. The addition of Battle.net integration brings the total number of GeForce NOW supported platforms up to six, joining the likes of Steam, GOG, and Ubisoft Connect. Nvidia has yet to confirm that more Battle.net titles will be added to its service in due time, although its track record with storefront integration suggests that is a plausible scenario.

GeForce NOW Casts Vote of Confidence for Battle.net

Looking at the slightly bigger picture, this development is a fairly strong indicator that Battle.net won't be facing the reaper anytime soon. Some industry watchers previously predicted that Microsoft might opt to shutter the launcher in favor of concentrating its content library onto its main storefront following the Activision Blizzard acquisition, which was completed in mid-October 2023. But Nvidia going through the trouble of making Battle.net work with its cloud gaming platform implies Microsoft might have provided it with assurances that Battle.net isn't going anywhere for now.

The latest GeForce NOW update also introduced support for Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster, the Xbox Game Pass version of Space Engineers, Fort Solis, and Welcome to ParadiZe. At least 22 more titles will be added to Nvidia's streaming service over the course of March.
