No Man's Sky is one of the most comprehensive exploration games ever released. Gamers can often get lost in the vastness of the endless universe. While exploring, there are hundreds of important items that players will have to search the far reaches of space to acquire.

Many of the items in No Man's Sky can be crafted using Salvaged Data. However, there are a few items that players can neither discover nor craft. The Wiring Loom is one such item. Wiring Looms are used to craft valuable technology, and gamers will want to get a hold of one. The item can also be used to perform clever market manipulation. Players can acquire the Loom by either accessing the Galactic Trade Terminal or dismantling upgraded items.

Galactic Trade Terminal

Gamers can access the Galactic Trade Terminal from the Anomaly. There, players will be able to purchase a Wiring Loom. The price of the wiring loom will vary depending on the Galaxy's economy and the types of purchases a player makes throughout the game. On average, players will have to pay between 40,000 and 70,000 units for the loom, which can be a steep price. However, explorers will need the Wiring Loom to craft the extensive list of items below:

  • Ablative Armour
  • Advanced Mining Laser and Translator
  • Air Filtration Unit
  • Amplified Cartridges
  • Barrel Ionizer
  • Blaze Javelin
  • Boltcaster Ricochet Module
  • Cadmium Drive

In total there are 53 different items that require a Wiring Loom to craft. Thus, the Wiring Loom is one of the most sought after items in each player's progression. Gamers that do not have the units to afford the Wiring Loom can potentially find one by salvaging certain items.

Salvaging For A Loom

The Song of Destiny no man's sky

Players that can afford the Wiring Loom should probably not attempt to find one in salvage. However, players can find the item when dismantling certain components. Crashed ships can be dismantled, and one of the rare drops from a crashed ship is a Wiring Loom. Specifically, players should dismantle anything that is upgraded for a chance to get the item. Gamers can get the drop from any upgraded components or items that are dismantled. It is unclear how rare or unusual the drop is, but players will have a chance of receiving the item by salvaging. Although, gamers are better off saving up the units to purchase one. Enterprising explorers can actually use the Wiring loom to increase their wealth tenfold.

Wiring Looms Can Crash The Economy

The infamous Wiring Loom can serve one additional purpose, crashing the Galactic Economy. Because the Wiring Loom is available in every system and is an essential item, there will always be demand for it. Gamers can buy up all of the Wiring Looms in a system to skyrocket the price of the item. This method is not possible unless players have at least several million coins.  After buying the first batch of Wiring Looms, the sellback price will be significantly lower than the purchase price. However, if players travel to a different system, the prices can be manipulated. Explorers will want to find a trading economy that is promising to execute the tactic.

Market Manipulation

After finding a suitable star system, players will then want to flood the market with Wiring Looms. The sell price will still be less than the purchase price at this stage, but this is all a part of the plan. After selling the Wiring Looms, the Galactic Exchange lowers the demand for the item to negative levels. By reducing the demand, gamers will have a much lower purchasing price. The Wiring Looms should be discounted by at least 50 percent. Despite the units lost on the first sale, gamers will be able to buy back the Looms for a much cheaper price and sell them in another solar system.

Exponential Profits

By repeating the method, every sale and purchase will increase the number of wiring looms a player can trade, while deflating the price exponentially. By the time players reach the third or fourth system, they will be compounding earnings while increasing supply. The reason this method works in No Man's Sky is because the economies are not interconnected and low demand immediately deflates prices. Below is a condensed summary of how to break the Galactic Economy:

  • Buy all of the Wiring Looms in a system.
  • Travel to a system with a promising or booming economy.
  • Sell all of the Wiring Looms in the new system.
  • Buy all of the Wiring Looms at a discounted price.
  • Find a new system and repeat.
