The original Nioh by Team Ninja surprised a lot of players with its challenge and combat depth. Plenty of Nioh reviews praised Team Ninja’s foray into Dark Souls-esque combat, saying the studio raised the bar for what it was capable of.

However, there were a handful of smaller features missing from the original Nioh that are thankfully getting rectified with TheNioh Collection on PS5 and PC. Now, Team Ninja has announced via the official Nioh Twitter account that a photo mode will be included in Nioh Remastered.

TheNioh Collection is a bit unusual in that the series only has two titles and both were released within the last three years. Still, TheNioh Collection will boost both games to an impressive 4k resolution and 120 frames per second. Plus, it’s nice to have the complete editions of Nioh and Nioh 2 along with a substantial boost in performance all in one package. Alongside that boost in performance, it seems the original Nioh is getting a new feature that should lend itself well to the game’s boost in graphical fidelity.

The official Nioh Twitter account revealed that a dedicated photo mode is being added to Nioh Remastered, which the original Nioh on PS4 was sorely lacking. With the upgraded 4k resolution, the original Nioh is going to look better than it ever has before. However, the game doesn’t just get a new photo mode and a boost graphical fidelity, TheNioh Collection’s load times are extremely fast on PS5 as well. Despite the games only being out for a relatively short amount of time, it seems Team Ninja has been putting a lot of work into this collection.

The Nioh Collection comes as a bit of a surprise, especially seeing as Nioh 2 is technically still unfinished as of the time of writing this post. The release date of Nioh 2’s final DLC was only just revealed earlier this month. As such, Nioh 2 will officially have all of its content released as of December 17, 2020. This is just in time for the remastered and complete editions of the game that are launching in 2021.

The Nioh 2 Complete Edition for PC and PS5 launches officially on February 5, 2021, so players don’t have very long to wait at all if they’ve been holding off on experiencing Nioh 2. Luckily, Nioh 2 got a photo mode back in May of this year, unlike the original Nioh. That means both titles in The Nioh Collection will have photo modes for players to experiment with next year. Hopefully, players will be able to take advantage of the boosted performance to take the best screenshots possible.

The Nioh Collection will be available for PC and PlayStation 5 on February 5, 2021.
