Nintendo is officially collaborating with the LEGO Group to create a set based on The Legend of Zelda franchise featuring the Great Deku Tree, which is already available for pre-purchase online. The Legend of Zelda easily stands out as one of the most renowned franchises within the gaming industry, and though many fans over the years have discussed the possibility of official LEGO sets based on the beloved series, the reveal of this particular set makes good on a popular leak that made headlines earlier this year.

Up until now, Nintendo has only officially partnered with LEGO to produce a wide variety of sets based on the Super Mario series, which have proven extremely popular over the past handful of years. Perhaps this is no surprise considering that Mario is a household name around much of the world, and even though the legendary plumber brothers saw a notable surge in popularity with the premiere of the still-popular Super Mario Bros. Movie around this time last year, many of Nintendo's other IPs - particularly The Legend of Zelda - have more than proven that they're still as renowned as ever.

Following years of whispered rumors and a ton of anticipation among fans, an official Legend of Zelda LEGO set has been revealed by Nintendo on Twitter. This set features the Great Deku Tree, a character seen throughout several entries in The Legend of Zelda series, and comes as a 2-in-1 set so that fans can build two different versions of the Great Deku Tree - either as it appears in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, or as it appears in Breath of the Wild. Not only does the scenery change, so do the characters - it seems as though the set comes with two minifigure variants of Link and a minifigure of Zelda as she appears in Breath of the Wild, as well as various other characters such as Hestu, some young Koroks, and more.

  • The set is available for pre-purchase at $299.99 USD.
  • The set consists of a total of 2,500 pieces.
  • It includes a 2-in-1 LEGO set complete with 3 distinct minifigures.
  • Some parts of the set feature other enemies and characters from the series.
  • The set is officially slated for release on September 1st.

Zelda Fans Can Already Pre-Order The Set, But At a Steep Price

While fans are undoubtedly excited to see the countless LEGO Zelda rumors come true, they might want to wait a while before they get their hands on it. The set is slated to arrive on September 1st, though fans are able to pre-order it online from the LEGO store right now at the price of $299.99 USD. For those wondering, the set is also confirmed to contain a total of 2,500 pieces according to the set's page on the LEGO website.

Interestingly, this official LEGO set seems to be exactly what was promised by one Legend of Zelda fan in an unofficial leak that quickly gained popularity at the start of the year, which got the details correct down to the release date and piece count. It's still not clear whether this Legend of Zelda LEGO set will be a one-off, or if it's a sign of a more permanent collaboration which will see the addition of more sets in the future.
