Nintendo has officially released a brand-new trailer for the highly-anticipated remake of Luigi's Mansion 2, teasing the story of the sequel launching next month. Throughout recent years, Nintendo has brought a plethora of fan-favorite games from past consoles to the Switch with a fresh coat of paint and enhanced gameplay. Last year saw the launch of the long-awaited remake of Super Mario RPG, alongside remasters of classic games like Metroid Prime and Pikmin 1 + 2. Now, one of Nintendo's most highly-anticipated remakes has received a brand-new teaser trailer.

First released on the 3DS in 2013, Luigi's Mansion 2, also known as Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, came as a sequel to the fan-favorite GameCube launch title. Dark Moon saw several expansions on the horror-themed action adventure spinoff, adding multiple new mansions for players to explore within the sequel. Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon also saw the addition of multiplayer elements to the franchise, allowing players to team up with friends and hunt ghosts together. Now, with just over a month left until Luigi's Mansion 2 HD launches, Nintendo is teasing the story of the sequel.

Nintendo reveals the file sizes for the upcoming Switch remasters of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door and Luigi's Mansion 2 HD.

A new trailer for Luigi's Mansion 2 HD, titled "A rude awakening," sets the stage for the story of the Luigi's Mansion sequel. Following the events of the first game, King Boo, the first game's main antagonist, escapes and causes the titular "Dark Moon" to shatter, sending the ghosts into a rampage. Professor E. Gadd tasks Luigi with once again stopping King Boo and dispatching the hostile ghosts, while also assembling the shattered pieces of the Dark Moon. Luigi's Mansion 2 HD is currently expected to launch on June 27 as a Switch exclusive.

Nintendo Releases Luigi's Mansion 2 HD Story Trailer

The upcoming debut of Luigi's Mansion 2 HD will join the franchise's newest entry as part of the Nintendo Switch's library. Luigi's Mansion 3 launched in 2019 as a follow-up to the 2013 3DS game, adding new gameplay elements, upgrading the series' multiplayer, and introducing a new companion with "Gooigi." While the original Luigi's Mansion has yet to receive a new version on Switch, the first entry did see an enhanced remake launch on the 3DS in 2019.

Luigi's Mansion 2 HD's release marks the most recent of several remakes debuting on Switch during 2024. February saw the launch of a remake of 2004 puzzle platformer Mario vs. Donkey Kong, the first appearance of the spin-off franchise on Switch. Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door will also debut later this month as a remake of the classic GameCube RPG, featuring updated graphics and teasing new gameplay features. Nintendo's lineup for the Switch in 2024 looks jam-packed with plenty of high-profile remakes throughout the year.
