Nintendo Switch and PC versions of Tactics Ogre: Reborn appear to have a useful feature in common for players: keyboard and mouse support. Tactics Ogre: Reborn's keyboard and mouse support for both platforms is just one of many improvements made by Square Enix for the updated remaster.

Tactics Ogre: Reborn is an enhanced remaster of Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together, the PlayStation Portable remake of the original 90s tactical RPG. Square Enix developed new features and mechanics for the remaster such as bonus objectives, improved ally A.I., ally revives, and training battles. Additionally, a number of gameplay adjustments were made to round out the tactics RPG experience. As one Tactics Ogre: Reborn player discovered, Square Enix provides another control option for Switch players besides the standard Joy-Con and Pro Controller support.

While accessing the controller configuration menu, Reddit user u/solwhitehorn discovered Tactics Ogre: Reborn for Switch supports keyboard and mouse just like the PC version. Keyboard shortcuts are displayed in the menu, allowing the player to set two keys for one action. Many of the shortcuts are left empty by default in Tactics Ogre Reborn, but a player may plug in a keyboard and mouse to change the shortcuts. The keyboard and mouse may be plugged directly into the Switch dock's USB ports while the game is running in docked mode to enable the control option. According to u/solwhitehorn, a USB dongle and wireless Dell keyboard and mouse combo worked as intended during gameplay of Tactics Ogre: Reborn.

Tactics Ogre: Reborn is one of the few titles on Switch that fully supports keyboard and mouse controls. The select few games that natively support the control setup on Switch include Fortnite, Quake, the original DOOM, and DOOM 2. Nintendo's own Game Builder Garage supports mouse controls to streamline the drag-and-drop process while creating programs.

Tactics Ogre: Reborn's keyboard and mouse support is useful for players who prefer the control scheme in tactics and strategy-based games like Civilization 6 and XCOM. Further, the option promotes accessibility since players are able to configure keyboard shortcuts to their liking. The Switch is able to detect the devices through USB and Bluetooth, so more games could support the option in the future.

Alongside the recent launch of Tactics Ogre: Reborn, Square Enix launched action RPG Valkyrie Elysium for PC. More new Square Enix releases are on the way including Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion, Dragon Quest Treasures, and Romancing SaGa: Minstrel Song Remastered.

Tactics Ogre: Reborn is available now for Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
