Bandai Namco announces that its Nintendo Switch exclusive title Taiko no Tatsujin: Drum 'n' Fun will be delisted and discontinue its sales from Nintendo's eShop on November 30, 2023. The Taiko no Tatsujin games are a series of Japanese rhythm games developed and published by Bandai Namco, with the first released in 2002 on the PS2. Drum 'n' Fun is one of the more recent entries in the long-running series, releasing in 2018 as a digital-only title.

As a Nintendo Switch exclusive, Taiko no Tatsujin: Drum 'n' Fun makes use of the Switch's Joy-Con controllers in order to simulate the feeling of playing a drum, with the controllers acting as the drumsticks. In a collaboration with third-party hardware manufacturer HORI, players can also use a special controller that is shaped like an actual Taiko drum to play the game. Fans might be sad to hear that Bandai Namco will be discontinuing the sales of Drum 'n' Fun starting at the end of November.

This announcement was made on Taiko no Tatsujin's official Twitter account, stating that sales of the game will stop on November 30 at midnight. "We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all our customers who have purchased or played the game, and we kindly ask for your understanding in this matter," says the Twitter post. The Nintendo Switch exclusive will still be playable even after the game has been delisted, and any DLC for Drum 'n' Fun will still be available to purchase after the main game has been taken off the eShop. Not only that, players can redownload any purchased DLC after sales have ended.

The post highlights how fans can continue supporting the series by purchasing Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festival on the Nintendo Switch. Released in 2022, Rhythm Festival contains a lot of the same songs as Drum 'n' Fun, including songs from anime like Dragon Ball, Neon Genesis Evangelion, and Attack on Titan. More songs for Rhythm Festival can be purchased through the game's in-game subscription service and DLC.

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all our customers who have purchased or played the game, and we kindly ask for your understanding in this matter.

Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festival is a bit of an upgraded version of Drum 'n' Fun, having features not found in the latter game. While Rhythm Festival contains over 500 songs, some shared between Drum 'n' Fun, there are some songs exclusive to the latter game. It's likely the delisting of Drum 'n' Fun was due to expired licenses, but that has not been clarified at the time of this writing. Some fans are still sad to see this Nintendo Switch game get delisted, as Drum 'n' Fun containes some songs, like Super Mario Odyssey's "Jump Up Superstar," that aren't available in Rhythm Festival.
