10 The World Ends With You: Final Remix

Developed by Square Enix, The World Ends with You has an art direction inspired by Kingdom Hearts. The original Nintendo DS version utilized two screens, which made bringing it to the Switch not easy. The Nintendo Switch version is an enhanced port that added more polish and made it playable on a television screen.

This action RPG has an intriguing story to go along with its motion control combat system. The original had a Stride Battle Cross System that was morphed for the Nintendo Switch version. Some criticized the Switch's less than intuitive motion controls, but it remains an enjoyable game nevertheless.

9 Trials of Mana

A deep and faithful remake of a classic

Trials of Mana is a 3D remake of Seiken Densetsu 3, a game that initially released for the Super Famicom in Japan. Trials of Mana had a flawless transition from 2D to 3D. The game is virtually indistinguishable from the original, yet oddly familiar.

7 Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition

Xenoblade Chronicles was a Wii game that was eventually brought to the Wii U. Now that the immersive RPG is part of the Nintendo Switch, there is little reason not to play this offline instant-classic.

It offers a great deal of character customization and a unique battle system that is fetching for JRPG enthusiasts. Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition is an open-world game, and one of the best the Switch has to offer.

6 Octopath Traveler

Octopath Traveler takes players on eight different adventures as they control eight players. It is strictly an offline RPG, so there is no option to play multiplayer online. For some players, that is okay since the game's single-player has more depth.

Octopath Traveler is a unique adventure that players have to experience if they own a Nintendo Switch, albeit it is also available on PC and Google Stadia.

5 The Outer Worlds

Not to be confused with The Outer Wilds, The Outer Worlds is an offline role-playing game from Obsidian Entertainment. Obsidian is the developer behind acclaimed RPGs like Fallout: New Vegas and Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords.

The Outer Worlds is a spacefaring adventure that puts players in the perspective of a human who is one of the last remaining colonists. You'll control everything from the dialogue and combat decisions and make choices that directly affect the game's events.

4 Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night

Before you dismiss Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night as another Metroidvania, know that the game has substantial RPG components. This side-scroller is a modern take on games like Metroid and Castlevania. The story follows Miriam, an orphan who is cursed by an alchemist.

This game needs no introduction as it is a multi-platform hit offline RPG, a Netflix series, books, and more. The Switch version is a complete edition, meaning that it contains all the DLC, including two expansions. You can easily pour hundreds of hours into this RPG—and you don't need an internet connection!
