  • The Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack is expected to add new Nintendo 64 games, including Jet Force Gemini and GoldenEye 007 in December.
  • 1080 Snowboarding and Harvest Moon 64 are also coming to the service in Japan, but release dates are uncertain.
  • Nintendo aims to expand the NSO library to keep subscribers engaged, despite the mixed reception among gamers.

The Nintendo Switch Online subscription service gets an update regarding its Expansion Pack Tier, as Nintendo provided a new schedule for future Nintendo 64 titles that will be added to the service. The Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack tier was first introduced in 2021, giving those who subscribed to this upgraded tier the ability to play a variety of N64, Game Boy Advance, and Sega Genesis games, complete with online functionality. The reception of this service is still mixed, but there are some who love what has been made playable on the Switch.

As of this writing, Nintendo has made 26 different Nintendo 64 games available to play for Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack subscribers, including multiplayer party games like Pokemon Stadium 2 and Mario Party 3. Nintendo is continuing to add games to the service, such as Rare's classic third-person sci-fi shooter, Jet Force Gemini, which will be coming this December. A recent update from Nintendo may indicate what games will be coming after Jet Force Gemini's addition to NSO.

Nintendo Is Launching an Adults-Only App for Switch Online in Japan

Japan is soon set to receive an adult-only Switch Online app containing a number of 18+ games for Nintendo's hit hybrid console.

This updated schedule was posted on Nintendo's official Japanese website on November 22, 2023 (archived courtesy of Nintendo Life). It shows four titles that are scheduled to be released in 2023, with Jet Force Gemini being one title added to Nintendo Switch Online, releasing alongside GoldenEye 007 in December in Japan. The section also lists 1080 Snowboarding and Harvest Moon 64 (Bokujo Monogatari 2 in Japan), with these two titles being the next ones in line to be added to the service in Japan.

Nintendo 64 schedule Nov 2023

During the September 2023 Nintendo Direct, 1080 Snowboarding and Harvest Moon 64 were announced to be added to the NSO service before the end of 2023. While the reveal of 1080 Snowboarding was present in the North American Direct, the announcement of Harvest Moon being added to NSO was exclusive to the Japanese broadcast. Harvest Moon likely won't be added to the North American service for a while, possibly due to the complicated naming situation between Harvest Moon and Story of Seasons. The text at the bottom of this section notes that titles are added "irregularly," which means that not all of these games may arrive before the end of December 2023.

Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa had previously stated that the company wants to continue bolstering the Nintendo Switch Online service's content to ensure members come back regularly to play. While the NSO app still has a mixed reception among gamers, Nintendo has been doing a lot to expand its library in order for subscribers to continue playing.
