After months of rumors, leaks, and speculation, Nintendo has finally confirmed that Game Boy and Game Boy Advance games are coming to Nintendo Switch Online and its Expansion Pack tier. Nintendo gamers have been asking Nintendo to boost the Switch Online's offerings by incorporating classic Game Boy and GBA games, and now it seems that their wish has finally been fulfilled. And not only that, but the first batch of Game Boy and GBA games are available to Switch Online subscribers starting today.

The Game Boy Games coming to Switch Online will be available to everyone who is signed up for even the most basic tier. Starting today, Switch Online subscribers can look forward to Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins, The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX, the original Tetris game, Gargoyle's Quest, Game & Watch Gallery 3, Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare, Metroid 2: Return of Samus, Wario Land 3, and Kirby's Dream Land. Switch Online subscribers can choose to play the games in Game Boy, Game Boy Pocket, or Game Boy Color screen filters. Any games that support multiplayer can be played locally or online with up to two players.

Besides confirming the Game Boy games coming to Nintendo Switch Online today, Nintendo also teased some of the games that will be added to the service in future updates. Switch Online gamers can look forward to The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons, The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages, Pokemon Trading Card Game, and Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble at the very least. It's possible more Game Boy and Game Boy Color games are on the way as well, but this is all that's been confirmed for now.

In the meantime, those that are signed up for the Expansion Pack tier of the Nintendo Switch Online subscription service have even more to look forward to today. Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3 with its associated e-reader content, WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgames, Kuru Kuru Kururin, Mario Kart: Super Circuit, Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga, and The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap are all hitting Switch Online + Expansion Pack within the next few hours. Like the Game Boy games, these titles support both local and online play, though up to four players can play the GBA games.

Also like the Game Boy offerings, Nintendo also teased with some GBA games that will be added to the service in the future. Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers can look forward to Metroid Fusion, Kirby and the Amazing Mirror, Fire Emblem, F-Zero: Maximum Velocity, and Golden Sun in future updates.

There are still some Nintendo 64 games that have yet to be added to Switch Online as well, such as the Pokemon Stadium games, so it seems that 2023 is going to be an absolutely massive year for Nintendo's subscription service.
