On Halloween night, NintendoSwitch console users were given a treat in the form of firmware update version 15.0.1. The update came just a few weeks after the release of Nintendo Switch version 15.0.0, which brought mostly under-the-hood changes to the console firmware.Just three weeks prior, on October 10, Nintendo Switch version 15.0.0 was released. In that update, changes were made to the Bluetooth Audio menu and to the capabilities of the Capture Button in the Nintendo Switch Online app. By comparison, version 15.0.1 was just the latest in a pattern of supplemental updates released by Nintendo every few weeks. Each of these supplemental updates fell within the scope of the most recent major version at the time. Earlier this year, version 14.0 was released in March, with three continued updates from April to June.RELATED: Bayonetta Fan Masters Windmill DanceIn version 15.0.1, two major bug fixes were among the listed changes. According to the update notes released by Nintendo, an issue was resolved that caused Error Code: 2181-1000 to appear. This occurred when playing downloadable content for certain games on a different console than the primary console that was registered to the user. A second issue was found and rectified that previously stopped screenshots from being taken during certain in-game cutscenes for some games. The system update came just days after recent game releases saw updates of their own, such as the day one update to Bayonetta 3.

Twitter user OatmealDome datamined and uncovered more details concerning version 15.0.1, and said that the system's internal "bad words list" was updated for Japanese speakers in particular. According to OatmealDome's updates, phrases that roughly translated to telling someone else to "shut up" out of anger, and others telling someone to "disappear" or "get lost" were added to the list. OatmealDome further added that other miscellaneous changes were made to the system's built-in apps and web browser for stability reasons, and to various system modules used in the system code. As always, general system stability was improved in order to enhance the user experience of the console. It remains to be seen whether this round of system firmware fixes will affect games in a noticeable way, as was the case with a SkyrimAnniversary Edition update on the Switch.

With the recent release of games in the past few weeks, such as Mario + Rabbids Spark of Hope and Bayonetta 3, Switch users have plenty of games of different genres to choose from. In just over two weeks, Switch players will have even more to enjoy with the release of the much-anticipated Pokemon Scarlet and Violet on November 18.
