A Nintendo Switch fan has shared their large collection of joy-cons that has left other players bemused. The detachable Nintendo Switch controllers have been made available in a variety of colors and designs over the years since its release, and this person owns quite a few of them.

Nintendo Switch Joy-Cons offer a lot of flexibility in how they're used, as they can be utilized while connected to the handheld or while the console is docked. This not only presents the opportunity to hand off a single Joy-Con to a friend to be used as a controller, but also allows players to hold the two separate units in whatever way is most comfortable to them.

While many players own more than one set of Joy-Cons, few have quite as extensive a collection as TheHeroOfTatem. The Redditor shared a photo of their collection on the site's gaming subreddit, showing off a whopping 14 pairs of Nintendo Switch Joy-Cons. In addition to the more common color options, they have the limited controllers released in tandem with Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and Fortnite.

Fans in the comments were stunned by the sheer size of the collection. Many wondered or joked if TheHeroOfTatem had acquired this many due to the dreaded Joy-Con drift, which leads to unwanted inputs and has been a problem since the Switch's release. However, the collector stated that they don't even use Joy-Cons and stick with their Switch Pro Controller instead, leaving many fans befuddled. TheHeroOfTatem indicates that this is simply a collection of Joy-Cons that they want to put on display, rather than actually use.

While some Switch users seem to be impressed, others have been taken aback at the cost of these assembled controllers. Users estimated the base cost at $1400, to which TheHeroOfTatem noted that the expense was more like $1200, as they didn't buy every set at full price. However, they also go on to point out that they're waiting for two sets of custom Joy-Cons that they've ordered that were $350 on their own. From the sound of it, the size of the collection may continue to grow from here.

Fans often collect things connected to their favorite games and consoles, and some might argue that Joy-Cons at least serve a purpose, rather than a piece of art or collectible that's just meant to be looked at. Considering these Joy-Cons aren't being played with, though, some Nintendo Switch fans may be envious of the collection and wish they could put it to better use.
