The Nintendo Switch has been going strong since its release in 2017, but things have slowed down in the past few months when it comes to releases. There are many, many more exciting Nintendo games on the horizon, but only a few are officially confirmed to be released in 2020. That being said, Nintendo fans are a speculative bunch, and there are tons of rumblings about highly-anticipated Nintendo Switch titles that might actually come out sometime this year.

There are games of all varieties that are already confirmed, and even more that could be coming. These are five games Nintendo is releasing sometime in 2020 as well as five other games that are rumored to come out this year.

10 Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Animal Crossing fans haven't gotten a new mainline entry in the series since New Leaf in 2012, so there's understandably a lot of excitement for Animal Crossing: New Horizons. After a few disappointing spin-off titles like Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer and Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival, New Horizons brings the series in all its glory to the Nintendo Switch.

Several quality of life changes are being made and multiplayer functionality is being greatly expanded, meaning this is shaping up the be the best Animal Crossing yet. Animal Crossing: New Horizons launches on Nintendo Switch on March 20.

9 Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX

Pokémon spin-offs used to come out all the time in the GBA and Nintendo DS era, and Pokémon Mystery Dungeon is arguably the most successful series to come out of those spin-offs. Those who played them hold the games in very high regard, but the series fell to the wayside once the Nintendo 3DS released.  The 3DS did get some Mystery Dungeon titles, but they paled in comparison to the originals.

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX is a complete remake of the original pair of games, giving a much wider audience a chance to experience these games for the first time. Rescue Team DX launches on Nintendo Switch on March 6.

8 Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition

Xenoblade Chronicles didn't get much attention when it initially launched on the Wii, but the series has grown in popularity since, mostly due to word of mouth and the inclusion of the protagonist, Shulk, in Super Smash Bros. Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition is a full remake of the original game, touching up the graphics for a release on the Nintendo Switch.

With its release, the entire Xenoblade Chronicles series will be playable on Nintendo Switch, including Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and the standalone expansion Torna - The Golden Country. Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition launches on Nintendo Switch sometime in 2020.

7 Deadly Premonition 2: A Blessing in Disguise

Deadly Premonition is a cult classic in every sense of the word. It's a clunky and not particularly great looking game, but those who have played it praise its charm and quirkiness. It's a very strange game, and there's nothing else quite like it in the gaming world.

Surprisingly, a full sequel to the game was announced in a Nintendo Direct late last year, and the first game was subsequently released on Nintendo Switch so people could catch up before the second game's release. Deadly Premonition 2: A Blessing in Disguise is slated to launch on Nintendo Switch sometime in 2020.

6 No More Heroes 3

Announced at The Game Awards last year with an awesome fake out trailer, No More Heroes 3 is a true sequel to No More Heroes 2, letting players take control of the cocky Travis Touchdown once more.

A different No More Heroes game, Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes, released on Nintendo Switch early last year to a lukewarm reception, and fans were hungry for a true follow up for the series rather than a spin-off. No More Heroes 3 is scheduled to launch on Nintendo Switch sometime in 2020.

5 Bayonetta 3

Announced at The Game Awards a few years ago, Bayonetta 3 hasn't made a public appearance since. There isn't a concrete release window, but it's likely that the game could release later this year. PlatinumGames has since released Astral Chain, the project it was working on when the game was announced, but it has gone on to announce a few other projects, including a remaster of The Wonderful 101, which could set Bayonetta 3 back even further.

With so many projects on the horizon, it's unclear where Bayonetta falls in Platinum's schedule. Regardless, Bayonetta 3 is rumored to launch sometime in 2020.

4 The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2

Although it doesn't have an official title yet, many people have speculated that the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will release later this year. It's using the same engine and world from the first game and it's a direct sequel, leading many to draw comparisons between it and The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask.

Majora's Mask saw a relatively quick turnaround time following Ocarina of Time, so it's safe to assume that the sequel to Breath of the Wild could follow a similar pattern. The game is heavily rumored to launch later in 2020.

3 Metroid Prime 4

Metroid Prime 4 is in a very interesting position because Nintendo openly revealed to the public that the game's development had been restarted from scratch with a new studio. This means the game could launch much later than expected even though it was announced very early in the Nintendo Switch's life.

Regardless, the game was passed onto the team behind the original Metroid Prime trilogy, so it's expected that development should be relatively smooth and not take too long. Metroid Prime 4 is heavily rumored to launch sometime in 2020.

2 Shin Megami Tensei V

Out of all the games on this list, Shin Megami Tensei V has been missing for the longest time, meaning there's a very high possibility that it could reveal itself sometime this year. Shin Megami Tensei is one of the longest-running JRPG franchises, paving the way for several successful spin-offs, including Persona, which has arguably gone on to become more popular than the main series.

This game was announced prior to the Nintendo Switch's launch at the very same event where the system's price and launch lineup were detailed, so it's been quite some time since it has made a public appearance. Even though it's been missing for a long time, it's rumored to release later in 2020.

1 Overwatch 2

The first Overwatch came to Nintendo Switch years after it initially released, but Nintendo fans will be able to get the sequel on the same day as everyone else. Overwatch 2 will contain all of the first game's competitive multiplayer maps and modes as well as an original cooperative story mode.

The game will also feature a repeatable cooperative mode, similar to the co-op seasonal events that come to Overwatch throughout the year. There isn't a concrete release date for the game yet, but Overwatch 2 is heavily rumored to release sometime in 2020.
