A well-known Sega leaker has corroborated a recent report claiming the Switch 2 is targeting a March 2025 release. They also offered some additional insights into how Nintendo handled the widely reported internal delay of the Switch successor.

While the Switch itself was confirmed to be in development years ahead of its actual reveal, Nintendo has decided to take a much more secretive approach with its successor. Despite its lack of official acknowledgments, unofficial information about the console has lately been trickling out with increased frequency. One of the newest examples of that trend is a late February report from Nikkei claiming Nintendo is aiming to release the Switch 2 in March 2025 following an internal delay.

Leaker Reveals 2 Atlus RPGs Coming to Nintendo Switch 2

A reliable leaker reveals 2 Atlus RPGs set to release for the Switch 2, adding to the recent influx of rumors about Nintendo's next console.

The story was subsequently corroborated by Midori, a prominent insider with a substantial track record of Sega-related leaks. Taking to Twitter on February 26, Midori described the details outlined in Nikkei's report as "correct." The leaker also noted that the news of the Switch 2 internal delay came as a surprise to publishers, labeling it as a "unique situation." Nintendo's developer partners close to Midori, a group that ostensibly includes Sega, are said to have only become aware of the new release window last week.

The Brazil-based journalist who broke the original story about the delay has subsequently claimed that Nintendo is planning to announce the Switch 2 in June 2024. Midori said they have no information about the company's reveal plans for the console, but noted that the March 2025 target mentioned in Nikkei's report is a "firm" release window. The original report suggested that the device might slip into Q2 2025, depending on whether Nintendo manages to ramp up production in time to meet its expected launch demand for the console. Namely, the Japanese gaming giant is said to want to avoid early shortages by any means necessary, which is something that it failed to do with the Switch.

Sega Rumored To Have a Strong Launch Presence On Nintendo Switch 2

This is not the first recent occasion on which Midori has added to the rumor mill surrounding Nintendo's next console. Back in late January, the leaker said that Persona 3 Reload and Metaphor: ReFantazio are in development for the Switch 2. While they didn't outright state that this pair of Atlus RPGs would be part of the device's launch game lineup, that seems like a plausible scenario.

Midori also claimed that all of Sega's games unveiled at TGA 2023 would be coming to the Switch 2. Those include the revivals of Golden Axe, Streets of Rage, Jet Set Radio, and Shinobi. Sega also teased a Crazy Taxi reboot at the event, with Midori later clarifying the company is also working on a remake of the cult-classic racing game from 1999.
