According to a new rumor from a notable insider, Nintendo has planned on re-releasing two games for the Nintendo Switch, potentially in 2025. These two Nintendo Switch re-releases are games that are also from two notable Nintendo platforms: the GameCube and the 3DS. This rumor has piqued the curiosity of many Nintendo fans, and has gotten them speculating about what game he is alluding to.

This rumor comes courtesy of PH Brazil, a notable insider and journalist who had leaked information about the Nintendo Switch successor console. He previously claimed that the console would slip into a 2025 debut, which later proved to be correct. While PH doesn't have the same established track record as other insiders, he was the first to report on this delay, while also stating that the information came from various developers he spoke to. PH recently discussed the Switch's future lineup, stating that two big re-releases are in the works at Nintendo.

Rumor: Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door Code May Hint at Nintendo Switch 2 Capabilities

Dataminers discover code in the remake of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door that may hint at a possible new feature of the Switch 2.

In a new video released on his YouTube channel (translated by brzzcode on Reddit), tvPH, he notes the information he is providing is "half speculation and half information." PH says he knows of two re-releases that will be out in the next fiscal year, which puts it after March 2025, and when the Switch successor console will be released. He notes that one game that will be re-released was originally on the GameCube, while the other was on the 3DS. He also says that these games likely won't be shown during the upcoming June Nintendo Direct.

PH then discusses Nintendo's recent acquisition of Shiver Entertainment, suspecting that the company was acquired to port games from the Switch 2 for the Switch. This is due to Nintendo supposedly having plans to support the current hardware even after the Switch 2's release, due to its massive installation base, and to ease the transition between the two consoles, something akin to the PS4/PS5 transition period. He suspects that there will be new releases exclusive to Switch 2, but there will be remasters and new titles on the Switch in the first few years, similar to how the 3DS was still supported during the end of the 3DS' life cycle and the beginning of the Switch's.

Potential 3DS and GameCube Switch Ports

Fans have been speculating about the possible Nintendo 3DS remastered titles planned for the Switch successor, with some believing that games like Kid Icarus: Uprising, Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, or even Tomodachi Life will get a Switch 2 version. Potential GameCube ports that came to fans' minds include Luigi's Mansion, to compliment the other two games in the series being on the Switch. Metroid Prime 2 and 3 ports, which already had a number of rumors, also came to mind. That said, despite PH's past track record, fans will need to wait until more official information is given.
