The Switch didn't have a Super Mario game on day one, but Super Mario Odyssey released in the same year as the home console/handheld hybrid.
This pattern makes it easy to believe that Nintendo could be preparing to release a brand-new Super Mario game for the Switch 2 console, or whatever the next-generation Nintendo system ends up being called. The leak comes from Zippo, who has accurately leaked Nintendo news in the past, but has also been incorrect about some things. In any case, they claim that the Switch 2 will be launching in 2024 with an open world Super Mario game.
