Former Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime is excited for Grand Theft Auto 6 when it eventually releases. During the PAX West 2022 conference, Fils-Aime sat down for an interview and revealed a lot of information about his time in the games industry, his time working at Nintendo and how he got there, and also what video games he's excited to play in his retirement, and the big one he wants to play is Grand Theft Auto 6.
Reggie Fils-Aime retired as Nintendo of America President back 2019, but he has kept a finger on the pulse of the games industry ever since. Fils-Aime worked at Nintendo for over 15 years. During that time, he became renowned in the games industry for his passion for Nintendo, and especially for the diversity that he brought to the industry. Since then, he has written a book, was a presenter at The Game Awards, and also served on the GameStop Board of Directors. He also still attends gaming conventions.
In an interview with Fanbyte at Pax West 2022 in Seattle, Fils-Aime answered a lot of reflection-type questions about his memorable career at Nintendo, but the final question was one that had Fils-Aime looking to the future: he really wants to play the Grand Theft Auto 6. When asked what game he wanted to play during his time at Nintendo that he wishes he could play but never got to, he gave a very non-Nintendo response by saying he used to play a lot of Grand Theft Auto and that he is looking forward to jumping back in with the next title. It wasn't exclusively his position at Nintendo that kept him from playing, though, it was also time and that's still a challenge for him, according to Fils-Aime.
Fils-Aime isn't the only person eagerly awaiting the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series. Grand Theft Auto 5 released back in 2013 and has been re-released several times. The game is one of the most financially successful products of all time, but it looks like Rockstar is finally saying goodbye to Grand Theft Auto 5, and has its eyes set on the next game.
While Fils-Aime is staying busy in his retirement, even releasing a book earlier this year called Disrupting the Game: From the Bronx to the Top of Nintendo, it's clear he still has a passion for gaming and helping others succeed. Hopefully, Fils-Aime will find the time to enjoy Grand Theft Auto 6 when it eventually releases. Grand Theft Auto 6 has been confirmed to be in active development for quite sometime, and a lot of rumors have sprung up since. Fils-Aime, and likely most gamers, are eager for the next game, whenever it eventually releases.
