Players control Mario as he faces many original dangers along the journey. Luckily, there are many items he can use to help him along the way. There are also a bunch of hidden items throughout the areas in ?-Blocks that players can snatch. Grab the Nintendo Switch and let's take a look at what and where some of these hidden items are.

10 Whispering Woods: 1,000 Coins

The area Whispering Woods can overwhelm players because it is so large. Therefore, it can be much harder to find items let alone hidden items. One of the major hidden items in this area is a ?-Block that contains 1,000 coins.

As players know, coins are extremely beneficial in all Mario games for various reasons. Simply head towards the thorny area but don't step on them. Players then reach a mini-game area where they must run and jump onto a square-like marking on the ground. The ?-Block appears and players can jump to collect the 1,000 coins.

9 Graffiti Underground: Confetti

There are many tasks that Mario has to complete in the Graffiti Underground. It's dark, there are levers to watch for, water everywhere, and it's a lot to keep track of. The hidden item in this area is a ?-Block that contains confetti. Confetti is an important item in Paper Mario because it can fill Non-Bottomless Holes.

Players can then receive coins or other items as awards. Once players reach a certain point in Graffiti Underground, they must go up a set of stairs. Head right to an opening and then left. Fix the Non-Bottomless Hole keep going until reaching a square on the ground. Jump on it to get the confetti.

8 Picnic Road: Fire Flower

The peaceful Picnic Road area might look charming but it is tough. Luckily, there is a hidden Fire Flower in a ?-Block for players to seek out. Plus, this is one of the easier secret items to find. Fire Flowers are beneficial in all Mariogames, and The Origami King is no exception

To find this item, players must head towards the exit on Picnic Road. They will see an arrow made out of coins that points to the ?-Block. Players must jump to display the ?-Block and retrieve the Fire Flower.

7 Overlook Mountain: Iron Boots

Players can go to the Weapons Shop and purchase a pair of Iron Boots.  They are shiny and even stronger than the Legendary Hammer. When Mario wears these boots, he can jump on enemies with spikes as well.

Overlook Mountain has a ?-Block with Iron boots in them. Therefore, players don't have to worry if they don't have a pair form the Weapons Shop. After defeating the Origami Spiny, players must get to the above area by jumping on ledges within the walls. Stand in the middle of the gazebo's roof and jump on the hidden ?-Block to get the boots.

6 Autumn Mountain: Shiny Hammer

Many items from Paper Mario: Sticker Star made a return in Paper Mario: The Origami King. Autumn Mountain contains a hidden ?-Block with a Shiny Hammer inside.

They are great for defeating ground enemies and smashing things open. Head to the tram station area with the three Not-Bottomless Holes. Behind a rather inconspicuous tree, players can see a fence and a wall. Go betwixt the wall and tram station to access the hidden section. Head to the middle of the coins and jump on the ?-Block to get the hammer.

5 Chestnut Valley: Shiny Mushroom

Shiny Mushrooms are items that players can pick from the Items Menu to rejuvenate hitpoints. They can also use Shiny Mushrooms in the middle of a battle! Chestnut Valley has a hidden ?-Block holding a Shiny Mushroom.

Once players reach the wall of the cliff they must avoid the holes at all costs. They will then arrive at the slope's peak and must jump on the ledge on the wall. This ledge is on the right near the landing chestnuts. At the center, players have to jump to unleash the ?-Block with the Shiny Mushroom.

4 Eddy River: Trophy

The Eddy River is quite different from other areas in the game. All of the characters travel in one boat and there is not a lot of movement. Players have to focus on moving the boat more than Mario. Plus, there aren't any Toads to save, ?-Blocks, or treasures.

There is a hidden treasure, however. Players can receive a secret Trophy by collecting all of the coins in the river along the way. Trophies are collectible treasures that players can obtain throughout the game. Collecting all of the coins is challenging, but it's a unique task for players to immerse themselves in.

3 Shogun Studios: Tail

There are a fair amount of hidden items in Shogun Studios. However, a unique item in this area is a Tail. This item is unique to the Paper Mario games so players must hunt it down. Tails allow players to spin around and attack enemies with the tail.

It's a typical odd but useful Mario item. Shogun Studios has separate areas. When players leave Area C, they must continue down the road bearing right. Then, before Area D, there is a barrel with fences around it. Jump on the barrel to reveal the ?-Block with the hidden Tail item.

2 The Princess Peach: Toad

It's not that Toad is an item. It's just that he's always in trouble and Mario constantly has to look for him like he looks for items. In The Princess Peach, there is actually a hidden Toad! Poor guy. Get Mario to the Wheelhouse Lever and go back to the Engine Room.

Connect the lever to the generator and hammer it to turn the lights on. Next, there will be a Save Block with a ripped rope that Mario can go through. This brings him to the Engine Room area where the hidden Toad is.

1 Ninja Attraction: Four ?-Blocks

Ninja Attraction has a couple of hidden ?-Blocks with hammers. However, there are also four hidden ?-Blocks if players look hard enough. Even though there are no items in these blocks, they give players a 100% block completion score.

Finding all the ?-Blocks in the areas can greatly benefit players the further they get in the game. Facing the front of the room, players can obtain collectibles on the right side. Then, jump on the rafters by the right corner. Break the four ?-Blocks that are hidden on the edge of the rafters.
