Although Breath of the Wild has been keeping Nintendo Switch owners busy for the last month, Nintendo will need to release some more first party games before long if the company wants to keep its fans happy. In that spirit, a Nintendo Direct event will air this evening to put a spotlight on two games that will be releasing later this year: Arms and Splatoon 2.

Neither of the games has a release date yet, but we know that Arms is aiming for a spring release and Splatoon 2 is aiming for a summer launch (and already has one successful global testfire weekend under its belt). In addition to lots of new gameplay footage and details, fans can keep their fingers crossed that today's event may also confirm a more concrete release date for at least one, if not both, of the games.

The Nintendo Direct begins at 3:00pm PT/6:00pm ET and fans can watch the stream right here...

Although the event is supposed to focus on Arms and Splatoon 2, there's always a chance that some 3DS or other Switch news will also sneak into the lineup. Images of a Mario Kart 8 Switch bundle leaked online earlier today, so there is a chance that Nintendo plans to officially unveil that new package tonight. Considering that there is currently no Switch console available with a pre-bundled game, the option to purchase the console with a first-party title would definitely add to its appeal for consumers who are still holding out on making the purchase.

What do you think of the Switch lineup so far? Do you expect any big news to drop during the Nintendo Direct? Let us know in the comments.

Splatoon 2 releases for the Nintendo Switch in summer 2017. Arms releases for the Nintendo Switch on sometime in spring 2017.
