The June 2024 Nintendo Direct could be happening later this week, if recent claims from a known insider are to be believed. With Sony and Microsoft's annual summer events having already aired, the not-E3 showcase season has largely come to an end. Nintendo, however, is the only major console manufacturer that has yet to host its own presentation. Rumors have circulated lately about when the next showcase from the platform holder may take place, and although none of them seem to have enough concrete backing yet, one recent report does corroborate a potential Nintendo Direct leak that happened a few days ago.

With the Switch 2 scheduled for a reveal sometime this fiscal year, news on Nintendo's first-party roadmap has been rather light in 2024 so far, likely because most of the company's upcoming titles are set to be released on its next-generation consoles. That doesn't mean the platform holder hasn't had anything to share with its fans this year, though, as the Switch manufacturer did host a Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase earlier in February. This event primarily focused on third-party games, but it did feature a couple of Switch exclusive titles launching in 2024, like Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble and Endless Ocean Luminous. Overall, though, the showcase didn't give fans the first-party blowout they wanted, but the June 2024 Nintendo Direct could remedy that issue in the immediate future.

According to an insider on Famiboards that goes by the name Brazil, the next Nintendo Direct is allegedly set for Tuesday, June 18. This report follows on the heels of a recent Among Us trailer leak that suggested the Switch manufacturer could be prepping for an event on this particular day. As exciting as this rumor is, however, it's possible that this might not be true. After all, Brazil has a bit of a mixed track record as an insider. Although the Famiboard user was apparently the first to report on the Switch 2 being delayed to 2025, they also claimed that a Nintendo Direct would take place in April 2024, which obviously never happened.

As Exciting As They May Be, It's Best To Take These Nintendo Direct Rumors With a Grain of Salt

If this report is true, it would contradict claims made by fellow gaming insider phluttilippe, who alleged that the June 2024 Nintendo Direct may happen later than expected. According to their sources, June 19 is the earliest date that the event could possibly take place, so an event on Tuesday wouldn't fall in line with their statements. That being said, this wouldn't entirely rule out a showcase occurring sometime this week, possibly on Wednesday or Thursday.

Regardless of the exact date it's scheduled for, hype is gradually building up for the Nintendo Direct later this month. Fans are expecting a lot of rumored announcements, like a new update on the Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake, a Switch port of the Apple Arcade-exclusive RPG Fantasian, and a re-reveal of Metroid Prime 4, among other things. It remains to be seen if the Nintendo Direct will actually have any of these games, though.
