Nintendo fans might have to wait a bit longer than previously thought for the next Nintendo Direct livestream, as sources claim that it won’t be held at any point this week. The past few days have been quite eventful for gamers, thanks to a collection of exciting livestreams that showed off previews of upcoming titles. Summer Game Fest, the Xbox Games Showcase, and Ubisoft Forward had no shortage of blockbuster trailers and fun announcements, yet Nintendo was largely absent from the proceedings.

While there were upcoming Nintendo Switch titles like LEGO Horizon Adventures present during this weekend’s wave of video game livestream shows, fans were expecting the Big N to hold a Nintendo Direct event, especially since Nintendo confirmed that one would indeed be held this month. The last Nintendo Direct took place on February 21 and featured announcements for upcoming Switch games like Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance, Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble, and Epic Mickey Rebrushed.

Anyone hoping to see the next Nintendo Direct showcase sometime this week may want to temper their expectations, as gaming insider and Twitter user phluttilippe says (via ComicBook.com) that the event won’t be held at any point between June 10 and June 14. They go on to claim that the Nintendo Direct will instead take place sometime at the end of the month, with June 19 being the earliest possible date for it according to their sources. It is also suspected that Nintendo itself isn’t yet sure of the exact day of the Nintendo Direct June 2024 event.

Nintendo Direct June 2024 Showcase Could Happen At The End Of The Month

Holding this year’s Nintendo Direct June showcase at such a late point in the month is a break from the Big N’s usual approach to the summer gaming season. In past years, Nintendo would hold its June livestream towards the start of June, often to coincide with the now-canceled E3. However, this suspected late-month window would match up with last year’s Nintendo Direct June livestream, which was held on June 21, roughly two weeks after that year’s Summer Game Fest.

Of course, this is all just speculation and rumor at this time, so gamers should keep their eyes and ears peeled for an official confirmation about when the upcoming Nintendo Direct June 2024 will be streamed. As for what will be revealed at the event, Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa advised viewers not to expect to see the recently-confirmed Nintendo Switch successor console at the event, as it will instead be unveiled sometime between now and the end of the current fiscal year next March.
