The launch of Splatoon 3 approaches, and Nintendo is placing emphasis on the new title through events such as Nintendo Treehouse Live and the Splatfest demo. This September, Nintendo and Baskin Robbins are teaming up to celebrate the release of Splatoon 3 with some limited-time delicacies.

Starting September 1, Baskin Robbins will offer various Splatoon 3-inspired ice cream, floats, and cakes in Japan. These desserts may come in Splatoon 3-themed cups featuring key art previously shown in promotional material. Eight Splatoon 3 cups are offered with eight flavors of ice cream in a new variety pack at Baskin Robbins locations in Japan. Additionally, a new "Ikasu Soda & Grape" flavor of ice cream will be available for a limited time. "Ikasu" is a play on words for "ika," which means squid in Japanese.

A new Splatoon 3 ice cream float is among the highlights of the new promotion. The Splatoon 3 jelly soda float features yellow and blue soda mixed with color-coordinated scoops of lemonade ice cream to match the aesthetic. Furthermore, the ice cream contains popping candy similar to Pop Rocks. The float comes with grape-flavored and lemon-flavored jelly, which are blue and yellow respectively. The jelly mimics the ink used by weapons in Splatoon 3 to add more flair and flavor to the float.

The final dessert offered at Baskin Robbins is an ice cream cake with Splatoon 3 decorations. Up to six different ice cream flavors may be chosen with the Splatoon 3 cake along with decorative Inkling and Octoling cookies. The Splatoon 3 cake also comes with a decorative mount and Inkling accessories. Baskin Robbins' new promotion lasts until September 29, roughly 20 days after the launch of Splatoon 3.

Unfortunately, these Splatoon 3 desserts are exclusive to Japan, and players outside the country will not be able to try them at their local Baskin Robbins. The successful Splatoon series garnered millions of players around the world, so the Baskin Robbins promotion may be considered a missed opportunity for some players outside of Japan. Cross-promotion is an enticing aspect of game advertising in the modern era, and Nintendo could have brought the Splatoon 3 promotion to regions with a large distribution of Baskin Robbins locations such as the U.S.

Although the ice cream is exclusive to Japan, all players may enjoy multiple years of updates for Splatoon 3. Nintendo appears to have learned from its online approach in Splatoon 2, so players will likely have a lot of new content and features to look forward to in Splatoon 3.
