Interacting with different workbenches, tables, tanning racks, or any sort of other interactable in Nightingale can be a bit more involved than it may first appear. A lot of the interactables that you'll be messing with in this game have multiple areas that you can mess with, and the game introduces you to this concept early on with campfires in the tutorial.
Nightingale Is Getting an Offline Mode
The developers of the popular open-world survival game Nightingale reveal that they are working on an offline mode due to player demand.
While campfires are one of the most basic things you can craft in Nightingale, it can be a bit confusing even getting them to work correctly if you're only used to using similar interactables in simpler survival games. So, here's how the campfire works exactly.
Campfire Overview
The Fire Section & The Pot Section
A campfire in Nightingale is broken into two parts, the actual campfire itself below the hanging pot, and the pot that you'll actually be cooking things in. By hovering your cursor over the pit of the campfire, you can then enter into the 'fuel' menu and choose what you want to use to fuel the fire of the campfire. There is a wide range of different materials you can use, from Plant Fibre to all sorts of plants to Crude Sticks and even Wood Bundles. Depending on the fuel you choose, the amount of time the campfire will stay lit changes, so if you plan to cook a lot of things at once, you may want to use a few Wood Bundles rather than a whole ton of Plant Fibre.
After putting fuel into the campfire, interacting with the pit of the campfire will then only Light or Extinguish the fire itself, and to enter the fuel menu you'll need to interact with the pot section and then choose 'Manage Fuel' in the bottom righthand corner of this menu. This is also the section of the campfire where you'll actually use fuel to cook food, namely:
Name | Ingredients Needed | Benefits | Biggest Benefit | Default Effect Duration |
---|---|---|---|---|
Healing Salve | 1x Bone & 1x Fibre | +Health Regeneration (per minute) & Small Heal | Heals Injuries & Grants Moderate Health Regen | 5 Seconds |
Mixed Plants | 2x Raw Edible Plants (can be two different plants) | +Max HP, +Max Stamina, +Health Regen (per minute), +Stamina Regen (per second), +Hunger Mitigation | Large Max Stamina Buff | 720 Seconds |
Roasted Berries | 5x Raw Berries (of the same type) | +Max HP, +Max Stamina, +Health Regen (per minute), +Stamina Regen (per second), +Hunger Mitigation | Moderate Max HP & Max Stamina Buff | 360 Seconds |
Roasted Meat | 1x Meat | +Max HP, +Max Stamina, +Health Regen (per minute), +Stamina Regen (per second), +Hunger Mitigation | Large Max HP Buff | 720 Seconds |
You can get recipe cards to cook other items at the campfire in the future, but generally these four items are what you're going to be using the campfire for. In particular, the Mixed Plants are amazing for granting bonus Stamina, the Healing Salve is a very cost-effective method of healing, and the Roasted Meat is a big Max HP buff in the early game. Just remember to Extinguish the campfire when you're done cooking there, as it'll keep burning through fuel until it's turned off, which means a lot of wasted Plant Fibre or Sticks for the more forgetful players.
