Nightingale is a game that a lot of people have been eagerly awaiting ever since it was first shown in the 2021 Game Awards. It's a PvE Survival game in which players are quite literally dropped into the middle of the fantastical Faewilds and must hop between all sorts of different realms to build a life for themselves and survive all in the hopes of eventually reaching the city of Nightingale itself.

Nightingale: How To Pickup All Nearby Items

It's incredibly tedious picking up individual items like Wood Bundles in Nightingale, so here's how to grab every nearby item all at once.

And, considering this world takes place in an alternate version of the Victorian era of history, fashion is a big part of it. Collecting different threads, whether for the bonus stats they provide or for their visuals, is worth doing in Nightingale, so let's look at how players can get a lot of extra threads from NPCs in particular

How To Get NPC Companions

It's Pretty Simple, Actually

Nightingale - Accessing Recruited NPCs Inventory

Typically found near Essence Traders, players can stumble across different NPCs in Nightingale that can actually join their metaphorical 'party'. These NPCs will typically ask you to do something for them first, which usually just means providing the materials to complete some sort of 'structure' the NPC is working on, be it a few beds or even a campfire. After doing this and talking to the NPC again, you should be able to then 'recruit' that NPC to come along and follow you around to complete all sorts of different tasks.

Keep in mind, however, that these followers don't really have any personality to them like, say, the followers in Fallout games do, so there's not much characterization to be found here.

In reality, these NPCs in Nightingale much closer to Pals in Palworld than they are to Companions in something like Fallout 4. Now, once you've Recruited an NPC on as a follower, you should then be able to talk to said NPC and access their inventory at any time. Also worth noting that you can also dismiss recruited NPCs in case you don't want an AI follower or you'd rather your co-op companion had the NPC following them instead.

Stealing Threads From Recruited NPCs

How To Go About Getting New Clothes

Nightingale - Taking The Clothes Out Of An NPCs Inventory

After you have your brand new NPC follower and have accessed their, you can then either right-click on the NPC's clothes and select 'Transfer' to put them into your own inventory, or you can simply click, hold, and drag the clothing items into your own inventory to take them that way.

And for those who don't want to gain what they feel to be an 'unfair advantage' by having NPC helpers, you can still just quickly recruit the NPC, take their cool threads, and immediately dismiss them. Also remember that by accessing their inventory, you can also choose what tool the NPC has equipped (which will determine what they'll do on autopilot when not immediately assisting you), you can store heavy items here to help carry things around, and you can equip them in new armor if you so choose. So, to quickly go over the whole process from start to finish:

  1. Find an Essence Trader (there's always a recruitable NPC near your first Abeyance Realm Essence Trader).
  2. Talk to the NPC near them that has a request for you.
  3. Complete that request.
  4. Bring the NPC on as a companion/follower.
  5. Interact with the NPC again to access their inventory.
  6. Steal all their clothes.
