Survival is key in the indie crafting hit Nightingale, as you will need to build, craft, and harvest your way through the Faewilds and survive all of the challenges it has to offer. While only a component of the game's overall experience, any Realmwalker who wants to stand a chance out in the various biomes in the game will need to equip themselves with the right weapons.

While there are quite a few solid options to protect yourself in melee combat, it shouldn't be understated how important it is to have a reliable ranged weapon in Nightingale. One of the first of these weapon types you'll come across is the Slingbow, which may cause some confusion among players about the ammunition you need. Despite what some may think, the weapon does not take arrows, so it would be useful for players to understand how to get Slingbow ammunition in Nightingale.

Nightingale is a survival game that has a lot of intricate mechanics stacked on top of each other, so here are the early mistakes to avoid.

How to Get Slingbow Ammo in Nightingale

Despite what the title may suggest, the Slingbow differs from a standard bow in that it does not take arrows as its chosen projectile. This may confuse some players, as it would theoretically make sense to gather some sticks and maybe some rocks and craft some sturdy arrows to be able to hunt down some of the quicker prey in the wild. While the weapon does not require arrows, players will need to craft Rock Marbles in order to make use of the Slingbow's ranged capabilities.

In order to make Rock Marbles, you will need to build a Simple Workbench at your home base. To do this, you will need to gather the following materials;

  • 10 Wood Bundles
  • 4 Plant Fibers

These items are both readily available to grab in most biomes and are in great quantities. Plant Fibers can be found in small bushes and hand-picked, whereas Wood Bundles can be acquired by cutting down trees or fallen logs with an ax.

Once you have the Simple Workbench, you will be able to craft Rock Marbles to use with your Slingbow. The recipe is the most basic of the craftable items on the workbench, requiring only that you provide 6 Rocks. Rocks are easy to find and will generally be found in any areas with lots of stone and are easy to identify as they look like a small cluster of rocks. Once you have the rocks, simply take them to the workbench, assign them to the empty slot in the Rock Marble recipe in the Simple Workbench menu, and press R or click Craft. For every 6 rocks you provide, you can craft 20 Rock Marbles.

Once you have crafted your ammunition for the Slingbow, you will need to assign it to your on-hand inventory in order to have them available to load onto your weapon. The process to do this is relatively simple:

  • Open your Inventory by pressing the I key on your keyboard.
  • Find your Rock Marble stash.
  • Drag the stash to the 9 or 0 slot, and exit your inventory.

Once assigned, you can reload your Slingbow by pressing the R key. In order to use the Slingbow, you'll need to hold the right mouse button to aim and click with the left button to fire at a target.
