Nightingale invites players into a mesmerizing survival and crafting adventure set against a backdrop richly inspired by the Victorian era. This fantasy realm is a tapestry of diverse biomes where players are challenged to construct shelters, forge tools and weapons, and navigate the myriad dangers of the Faewilds.

Before players can collect Ore in Nightingale, a necessary material for crafting these tools and structures, they must first acquire a Simple Mining Pick. This tool differs from the Makeshift Mining Pick players obtain during Nightingale’s tutorial, which cannot be used to mine Ore. Here's everything players need to know about crafting the necessary tools and obtaining Ore and Ingot in Nightingale.

How to Get Ore in Nightingale

Ore deposits found in large stones in Nightingale.

To get started gathering Ore in Nightingale, players need to craft the Simple Mining Pick at the Simple Workbench. The recipe for the Simple Mining Pick can be obtained from an Essence Trader. To craft the Simple Mining Pick, players will need to use the following materials:

  • 1 Stone Block
  • 1 Wood Bundle
  • 2 Straps

Where to Get Stone Block

Stone Block can be obtained by using the Makeshift Mining Pick (or better) on stone deposits. Not all stones in Nightingale can be broken to collect Stone Blocks; only those that display a Mining Pick icon when targeted with a Mining Pick in-hand. They should not be confused with Rocks, which are much smaller and found in piles.

Where to Get Wood Bundle

Wood Bundles are gathered by chopping down trees and logs using the Makeshift Wood Axe or better. Using a higher quality Axe will make the job of gathering wood much faster and will increase the durability of the tool.

Where to Get Straps

Straps are crafted using Animal Hide at the Simple Tanning Station or better. Players can collect Animal Hides by using a Hunting Knife on an animal they have slain. This allows them to obtain various resources, including Animal Meat, Bones, and the Animal Hides used to craft Straps.

Nightingale: How to Get Leather

Leather is an essential component to crafting in Nightingale, especially in the early stages of the game. Here is how to get your hands on it.

Once the player has obtained a Simple Mining Pick, they will be able to collect Ore from mineral veins throughout Nightingale’s realms. To get Ore, simply equip a Simple Mining Pick and use it to break apart mineral veins, collecting any Ore that drops. An ore deposit can be identified by dark patches of mineral visible on its surface.

Each realm offers a variety of ore deposits that are more common than others, requiring players to explore new realms in Nightingale to obtain ample supplies of ore, including Iron, Tin, or higher-quality ores, such as Platinum. Players will need to improve their Gear Score and upgrade to higher quality Mining Picks before they can obtain this Ore.

Players can also purchase Ore and Ingot from Essence Traders when available. It is also possible to obtain Ore, Ingots, and other items as drops from enemies or in discovered chests.

Simple Smelter schematic on Abeyance Essence Trader in Nightingale

Many of Nightingale’s schematics, especially those used to craft structures for the player's base, tools, and weapons, require the player to obtain various types of Ingots. Ingots are crafted at a Smelter using Ore the player has collected with their Mining Pick.

To craft the Simple Smelter, players first need to obtain its schematic, which can be purchased from the Abeyance Essence Trader for 55 Essence Dust. Once the player has obtained the Simple Smelter schematic, they will need to collect the following materials to craft this structure:

  • 4 Stone Blocks
  • 6 Rocks

Once the player has crafted and placed the Simple Smelter in their Abeyance, they can interact with the structure and fuel it using Plant Fiber, Wood Bundles, or Sticks they have gathered. Once fueled, the player can use the Simple Smelter to smelt Ore into Ingots. Each Ingot requires two of the same type of Ore to craft.
