As Fall Guys continues to drawn in players with its zany battle royale gameplay, it is also becoming a hot spot for some weird and wonderful crossovers. With Fall Guys maintaining its popularity since launching in 2020, the game will be getting a new skin from an unlikely license.

Nier: Automata's 2B will be debuting in Fall Guys as a new skin for players. Confirmed by developer Mediatonic during the recent Summer Games Fest 2021, 2B will be the latest crossover costume to come to Fall Guys. The costume will officially debut next week when 2B hits Fall Guys on June 18.

While the reveal of 2B coming to Fall Guys is a welcomed surprise, the meeting of franchises isn't entirely new. Back in August 2020, Nier designer Yoko Taro showed interest in having a Nier and Fall Guys collaboration. At the time, many fans smitten with the idea simply took it as a cute show of love from Taro. Now nearly a year later, the very unlikely crossover is coming this month.

Despite Nier: Automata launching back in 2017, the game's popularity has never waned with fans bringing up its unique storytelling and gameplay often. Another reason for the fanfare is due to 2B herself, a character that is slowly becoming an iconic figure in the gaming world. That easily identifiable outfit is likely a big reason why the character is being immortalized within Fall Guys and is probably going to be a common choice of attire by players. This recent Fall Guys crossover isn't even the first for the character, as 2B was already featured in Soulcalibur 6 as a DLC fighter.

While 2B is easily the most recognizable character in the franchise, it does come as a surprise that publisher Square Enix didn't use the opportunity to market the most recent release in the franchise as Nier Replicant launched earlier this year to big sales and widespread acclaim. This release of the Nier Replicant remake is actually the first time this version is available in the West as previously only Nier Gestalt was released in English speaking countries.

Regardless of which Nier character took to the stage of Fall Guys, it still speaks volumes about the fandom and support for the Drakengard spinoff. As for Fall Guys, the massively multiplayer platformer continues to bring in big player numbers thanks in part to the continued support by Mediatonic. The game will likely see a resurgence in players once Fall Guys officially releases on the Xbox One and Nintendo Switch later this year.

Fall Guys is available on PC and PS4, with Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Switch versions in development.
