Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl has become a surprisingly popular release for 2021, following its announcement in mid-July. The concept of a Super Smash Bros.-like fighting game starring beloved Nickelodeon cartoon characters clearly works for many gamers. There are still a lot of questions left to be answered about Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl's gameplay, however. A new gameplay video showcasing the move-set of the Ren & Stimpy character could answer some of those questions.

The Ren & Stimpy Showcase trailer for Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is intended to be a rundown of all the character's in-game moves and abilities. In case it wasn't clear, Ren & Stimpy is a single character and not two, as the cat and dog form a tag team for the fighting game. A brief description of Ren & Stimpy's fighting style is a slow and heavy hitter that can attack in multiple different directions with a single attack.

For Ren & Stimpy's ground-based light attacks, they have Keep it Together, Lick N' Stomp, and Wild Swing for their neutral, up and down attacks. Both Lick N' Stomp and Wild Swing notably attack in multiple different directions, as Ren and Stimpy each attack in different ways at the same time. Next, Ren & Stimpy's aerial light attacks are similar. The Best of Friend aerial neutral attacks both forwards and backward, Aerial Lick N' Stomp attacks both upward and downward, and Aeriel Wild Swing attacks both downward and to the sides.

Where Ren & Stimpy's strong attacks differ from light are in their upward and downward attacks, Fore and Back Off You Beast, which are swinging animations that cover a large area. As for aerial attacks, Ren & Stimpy's strong down attack is divebomb, which sees the character falling like a missile toward the ground but at an angled trajectory, much like how Kirby has a linear drop ability in Super Smash Bros.

Naturally, Ren & Stimpy's special attacks are where the character shines. The Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl character can toss a bouncing Blammo! Log, fart an explosion to launch into the air, and use a shielding ability where damage can then be turned into an explosion of fart damage. Last but not least, Ren & Stimpy's taunt is their sing-song Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy dance.

Developer Ludosity has clearly added a lot of Ren & Stimpy's personality to the fighting game character, and the pair's move-set does evoke the gameplay of Super Smash Bros., too. Whether or not Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl captures the feel of Super Smash Bros. will take a bit more persuasion, however.

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl releases October 5 on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
