A new Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 trailer gives players their first look at the long-awaited Jimmy Neutron in action. Rumors of a sequel to 2021’s cartoon crossover brawler circulated for months before developer GameMill Entertainment officially announced Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 in mid-July. Since then, details about the Super Smash Bros.-style follow-up have started to emerge, shedding light on which new characters will be joining the eclectic roster of characters from the original Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl.

One of the characters strangely absent from the first Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl was Jimmy Neutron, the eccentric boy genius from the cult classic Nickelodeon TV series and animated movie. While Jimmy’s father Hugh Neutron was eventually added as DLC in 2022, his scientifically gifted son has remained on the sidelines despite being fondly remembered by Nickelodeon fans and featured in tie-in games like Nickelodeon Kart Racers 3: Slime Speedway alongside his own series of titles during the PlayStation 2/Nintendo GameCube/Xbox era.

This is changing in All-Star Brawl 2, as Jimmy Neutron has just been confirmed as a playable character in a new gameplay trailer. The scientific prodigy is categorized as a Defensive Zoner in Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2, and uses a vast assortment of gadgets pulled from the movie and TV show. These include his laser-firing Secret Watch, bouncing Super Bubblegum Mobile and Purple Flurp Rocket Launcher. Jimmy’s primary source of offense is his trusty robot dog Goddard, who can be controlled by the player directly. However, using Goddard leaves Jimmy open to attack, and his recovery move is quite slow compared to other characters.

Jimmy Neutron is just the latest Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 character to be announced. Earlier this month, it was confirmed that SpongeBob SquarePants would return from the first game, bringing with him his thankless co-worker Squidward and archenemy Plankton. Leaks from before Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2’s official announcement suggested playable characters like El Tigre from the one-season wonder El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera and the sinister Vlad Plasmius from Danny Phantom, but they haven’t been confirmed yet.

Children of the early 2000s tend to look back warmly on The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius, so it was quite surprising when the kid with a knack for invention was left out of the original Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl. Luckily for fans of the classic animated film and corresponding show, Jimmy will be present and accounted for in the upcoming sequel, with a full arsenal of quirky gadgets and his faithful robot companion Goddard to help him take down the competition when Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 eventually launches across all major platforms.
