Fans of Ni no Kuni can finally experience the isekai of their dreams in Cross Words, a mobile MMO that combines the RPG franchise's signature adventures with the popular virtual game trope. In Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds, players of the VR game “Soul Divers” might not be in a game after all, and it’s up to them as their chosen Class to save the day.

However, as with other MMOs, each Class in Cross Worlds has particular specializations and special abilities to offer. Just how should players rank each Class in order to fully capitalize on their Cross Worlds experience?

5 Destroyer: Security Through Offense

Ni No Kuni Cross Worlds Destroyer

This hulking giant is a florist in real life but becomes the juggernaut Destroyer in “Soul Divers,” specializing in defending his team from whatever threats come their way. Perhaps the most straightforward Class in Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds, the Destroyer primarily serves as the tanking Class of the MMO. His toolkit ensures he’s fast enough to eliminate his foes and durable enough to take blows from his enemies. Here are interesting elements of his toolkit:

  • Creating slows, knock-downs: The toolkit of the Destroyer primarily focuses on slowing or knocking down enemies to ensure they don’t get to harm the party. Brutal Strike can inflict a knockdown on opponents, whereas Ground Slam can slow down enemies caught in the blast.
  • Punishing the enemy’s performance: While the Destroyer doesn’t require players to taunt to serve as aggro-steal, his kit emphasizes boosting his performance based on how efficient his enemies are, ensuring he stays in combat just as long as them. For instance, the Destroyer can take less damage when hit (Just Guard, Passive) while at the same time boosting his stats (Oath Of Revenge, Passive), debuffing enemy speed (Counter Slow, Passive), and ensuring attacks never exceed half his health (Stand Firm, Passive).
  • Get a second chance: Thanks to Indomitable Soul (Passive), the Destroyer can get healed if he hits 20-percent HP, giving him a chance to fight back.

4 Witch: Rule The Distance

Ni No Kuni Cross Worlds Witch

This stylish lass in real life becomes the perfectionist Witch in “Soul Divers,” specializing in dishing out spells that eliminate enemies before they could even catch her. Serving as the game’s straightforward long-ranged magician, the Witch’s toolkit emphasizes hard damage and solo survivability. Here are unique elements of her toolkit:

  • Delay the enemy push: The Witch’s abilities allow her to delay the enemy’s advance through her attacks, be it through knocking them down (Piercing Storm), slowing them down (Storm Spear), or flying away after an attack (Dancing Spear).
  • Boost stats through attacks: Unlike other Classes, the Witch has an uncanny ability to boost her performance through sheer attacks alone. Her normal attacks have the chance to boost the party’s attack speed (Rapid Stream, Passive), debuff enemy defenses up to five times (Armor Crash, Passive), and guarantee criticals (Bright Mirror, Passive).
  • Taking damage is an advantage: Some of the WItch’s abilities also allow her to outlast foes when taking damage. Her Final Illusion (Passive) dramatically boosts her defense if she’s at 20-percent health, while Emergency Maneuvers (Passive) can boost her evasion whenever she takes damage.

3 Rogue: Get Everything Away

Ni No Kuni Cross Worlds Rogue

This mischievous prankster becomes the long-ranged trickster Rogue in “Soul Divers,” a video game archer that specializes in using the bow-and-arrow to attack enemies from afar while confusing them with his abilities. Being the game’s offensive support unit, the Rogue’s toolkit ensures enemies are kept as far away from the team as possible.

Here are some notable qualities of the Class:

  • Secures distance: Unlike other Classes, the Rogue’s toolkit emphasizes slowing down enemies and keeping them as far away from the party as possible through pushes. Among his Class Abilities, Rain Of Arrows can slow down enemies, whereas Multi-Shot and Evasion Shot can push enemies back.
  • Irritate enemies for fun: Unlike Rogues in other MMOs, Cross Worlds' interaction can actually thrive when attracting the enemy’s attention. Thanks to Death Hunter (Passive), the Rogue can get a damage boost up to seven times when targeted by enemies. Thankfully, his evasive specialization ensures he can get away. Quick Move (Passive) ensures he attacks faster and moves faster every five attacks, while Enmity (Passive) can boost his damage for five seconds during attacks while increasing damage taken. The Rogue compensates for this increased risk with his enemy-pushing attacks.

2 Engineer: Everyone Gets Attacked

Ni No Kuni Cross Worlds Engineer

This genius of a student becomes the long-ranged powerhouse Engineer in “Soul Divers,” a class that uses a wide variety of weapons to dish out damage to all enemies in her field of view. While serving as the game’s frontline AOE attacker, the Engineer’s toolkit is designed to make healing efficient for them as well. Here are other notable components of her build:

  • AOE stun and slow galore: Unlike other Classes, the Engineer’s toolkit is specifically designed to attack all enemies within her range. Not only that, but her Burst Coil can stun enemies while her Elemental Blast can slow down foes caught in the blast. Not only that, but Artillery Strike (Ultimate) grants a whopping 100-percent damage boost against monsters on top of dealing 447-percent attack damage.
  • Barrier for sustains: The engineer can acquire damage-absorption Barriers through receiving attacks (Protection of Light, Passive) or healing (Conversion, Passive). Not only that, possessing a barrier grants her crowd control resistance (Barrier Mastery, Passive).
  • Boosted healing: The Engineer is specifically geared to boost healings the party receives, courtesy of Pure Medic (Passive).

1 Swordsman: All About Aggression

Ni No Kuni Cross Worlds Swordsman

This office worker in real life transforms into the ever-charming Swordsman in “Soul Divers,” capable of dishing out damage at close range. Serving as the game’s primary melee damage dealer, the Swordman excels not just in raking up high damage numbers but also in absorbing enemy aggression, capable of being a secondary tank. This class is a great pick for newcomers to Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds.

Here are some notable qualities:

  • Constant slows, knockdowns: Unlike other Classes, all the Swordsman’s non-Ultimate Core Abilities have some form of slowing effect. His Flash and Flying Slash slows down enemies for as much as three seconds, while his Spinning Swords can knock-down foes. Even his normal attacks can stun opponents, via Death Seal (Passive).
  • Defense buffer: Except for the Destroyer and the Swordsman, other Classes in the game don’t necessarily have a high-enough defense. Thanks to the Swordsman, other members of the group have a shot of being better-defended against foes courtesy of constant defense buffs. Thanks to Defense Call (Passive), the Swordsman’s normals have a chance to boost overall defense. Meanwhile, Fortress (Passive) can boost the Swordsman’s defense up to six times for a short period.

Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds is available on mobile, and a beta version is out on PC.
