It is safe to say that Elden Ring has defied all expectations by becoming one of the most played games of all time on Steam, with its concurrent player record being more than double of all previous FromSoftware games combined. Although Soulsbourne games have always had a sizable fan base, Elden Ring marks the genre truly entering the mainstream with more than a million players jumping into the Lands Between every day since launch.

With Elden Ring becoming a mainstream success, it is very likely that the game will heavily influence future releases by FromSoftware as the development studio will be looking to capitalize on its success.

In a recent interview with Famitsu, Elden Ring's creative lead Hidetaka Miyazaki discussed how the game will impact and influence future titles from the studio. While Miyazaki stated that he doesn't know what the future will hold for FromSoftware, he is sure that Elden Ring will continue to have an influence on its future plans.

Hidetaka Miyazaki also added that Elden Ring's size and scope were only possible due to the expansion of FromSoftware's staff in recent years, and hopes that Elden Ring will lead to more challenging endeavors for the development team when it comes to developing future games.

Elsewhere in the interview, Hidetaka Miyazaki also gave some advice for new players to help them with their journey into the world of Elden Ring. Soulsbourne games can be incredibly difficult and are often daunting for new players due to the notoriety that the genre has in the general gaming community. He told players to not try and optimize everything and to simply enjoy the game, while not fearing death but enjoying and learning from the experience to become a better player. With Elden Ring currently being the best-selling game of 2022 in the US, many players will likely be discovering the style of game for the first time, so Miyazaki's advice could be something they will benefit from hearing.

Elden Ring is an incredibly long game, with some players taking over 100 hours to 100% the game, so it should give players plenty to keep them occupied for the foreseeable future. But, speed runners have already broken the game and are managing to complete Elden Ring in under one hour, which will only continue to get lower as the weeks and months pass.

Elden Ring is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
