The big Microsoft FTC leak has revealed plans to release a brand-new Xbox controller in 2024 that will apparently have some of the same features as the PS5's DualSense. Xbox releases new controllers on a regular basis. Sometimes these controllers offer more functionality at a higher price, like the Xbox Elite Series line, though most of the time they are simply re-colored versions of the base Xbox Series X/S controller.
Xbox gamers can expect new colors for the original Series X controller for years to come, plus they can design their own controllers using the Xbox Design Lab. However, it seems as though Microsoft is planning on releasing a new Xbox controller next year that will be much more substantial than a simple color swap.

Haptic feedback has long been a major selling point of Sony's DualSense controller, and so it's no surprise to see Xbox adopt the technology. The new Xbox controller will also have an accelerometer, quieter buttons and thumbsticks, a rechargeable and swappable battery, and other bells and whistles that should make it an upgrade over the currently-available Xbox controllers. The device has not been officially announced at the time of this writing, but the FTC leaks are as credible as any leaks could possibly be, so fans should expect it to be released at some point in 2024.
The leaked new Xbox controller seems to be a part of a fresh Xbox hardware push that Microsoft is gearing up for in 2024. Other FTC leaks have revealed that Microsoft is planning to release a digital-only Xbox Series X console, plus a slightly revamped Xbox Series S. It seems likely that all this hardware will be out in time for next year's holiday season, but nothing official to that effect has been announced at the time of this writing.
Beyond hardware, Xbox's software plans for the next few years were leaked as well, specifically when it comes to Bethesda. Apparently, Xbox has remasters of Oblivion and Fallout 3 up its sleeve, as well as a new Doom game called Doom: Year Zero. Dishonored 3 was also leaked as in development. While it remains to be seen if everything mentioned in the FTC leak comes to fruition, Xbox fans should still have an exciting few years ahead of them.
