Modern MMO games can be quite varied these days, with many including long-term survival elements in addition to fantasy elements for a whole new kind of experience. New World is such a game that will encourage players to do a lot of resource gathering and crafting.
One of the more important resources for early-game armor and some furnishings is Linen, though it cannot be harvested from the wild, it must be made by the player. Thankfully, it's not too hard to do so or to find the components to craft this crucial fabric in New World.
Updated on October 23, 2021, by Reyadh Rahaman:Players wondering what to do with all of their Linen can use it to make many kinds of iron armor, a few types of cerulean furnishings, and some other items. However, Linen's most important feature in New World is to be used to craft higher-tier cloth materials.
Aspiring armorers will need a lot of cloth, so players delving into the Armoring skill can stock up on this resource by getting good at Weaving if they do not wish to purchase cloth from other players. In a similar vein of thought, players with an abundance of Linen can sell it for a few coins here and there.
How To Craft Linen
The recipe to create Linen is very basic and only requires 4 Fibers. Players can carry a lot of Fibers at a time, so be sure to stock up on a bunch of this resource to craft a ton of Linen at once for maximum efficiency. However, the actual crafting needs to be done at a refining station called a Loom.
Furthermore, players will need to use their Weaving skill to craft fabrics such as Linen, though for this relatively low-tier material, the level requirement is appropriately very low.
Where To Find Looms
Looms are a Tier 2 refining station that can be found in settlements all over the map. They can be identified by the many rolls of various fabrics found around them as well as their unique structure composed of threads stretched out across a wooden frame. On the map, Looms appear with an icon that looks like a little house with vertical lines representing threads within it.
Other crafting materials that can be made at Looms are Sateen, Silk, and Infused Silk, though those all require higher Weaving skills and rarer components.
Where To Find Fibers
Fibers need to be harvested from Hemp plants that grow in the wild areas of the New World. Hemp plants grow in both forests and grassy fields, though are the most abundant in the latter. They are also easier to spot in the grasslands due to their height extending well above the regular grass and their bright reddish-pink flowers.
Each Hemp plant that is harvested will yield enough Fibers to make many pieces of Linen, though, while one is out harvesting resources, it would make sense to grab a bunch. These plants can be harvested by other players but respawn fairly quickly, so there should be no shortage of them in the nearest prairie.
