Like many other MMORPG, New World features a series of dungeons that players can explore. These difficult areas are filled with strong monsters and bosses, with some of them introducing mechanics that players must overcome to survive. Those looking to tackle some of New World's most difficult content will definitely want to jump into these dungeon excursions as soon as possible.

But it's not as simple as jumping into a group in New World. To access a dungeon, players will first need to get a hold of a "Tuning Orb" for the appropriate area. The first tuning orb that players can come across is for the lowest-level dungeon, the Amrine Excavation. Here's a look at all of the ways that players can grab their very own Amrine Tuning Orb in New World to access the first dungeon of the game and snag some great gear.

What Is The Amrine Excavation?

Located north of Windsward, the Amrine Excavation (Expedition) is the first real "dungeon" that players will encounter in New World. The zone itself is filled with an array of enemies and a couple of bosses but it's pretty straightforward and shouldn't be too much of a task for new adventurers. Players should be Level 25 before entering the area (although it's possible to survive at a lower level with a good team) and will want to stock up on food and potions as there is no trading available between party members as soon as the dungeon starts.

Those interested in New World's storyline will find themselves embroiled in a sub-story that has them chasing a missing team of archeologists deep into the expedition located west of Amrine Temple. Simon Grey, a famed archaeologist in the area, and his entire dig team have gone mysteriously missing and it's up to the player and their group to discover the crew's whereabouts.

Getting A Free Amrine Tuning Orb

Although it is possible to craft an Amrine Tuning Orb whenever, players will actually receive one for free as they progress through the main story. The quest in question is Destiny Unearthed, a Level 25 (suggested) quest that can be grabbed from Yonas Alazar in Fisherman's Bend (Monarch's Bluff territory).

The quest will task players with traveling deep into the Amrine Excavation and grabbing a Heartgem, an item necessary for the player to become a Soulwarden. The gem is located in the very last chamber of the dungeon itself, behind an imposing boss that players and their group will need to take down first. It's very important that players interact with the Heartgem node and snag one before leaving the dungeon as failure to do so will force them to complete the excursion again.

How To Craft An Amrine Tuning Orb

Although it's only necessary for players to head into the Amrine Excavation once to experience the story, the dungeon is a great source of powerful gear (especially early in the game). Players that want to upgrade their characters will definitely want to consider running the dungeon a couple of times just for the rewards and EXP. However, it's important to note that players will still need an Amrine Tuning Orb each time they plan on entering the dungeon. Thankfully, it's possible to craft these items.

To put together an Amrine Tuning Orb, players will need at least Level 25 in Stonecutting and to grab the following items:

  • 1 x Iron Chisel
  • 1 x Eternal Heart
  • 10 x Corrupted Sliver
  • 50 x Stone Block

Some of these items are much easier to find than others. Here's a quick look at where players can farm the materials for an Amrine Tuning Orb.

Iron Chisel

To grab the Iron Chisel, players will need to visit their faction vendor, appropriate to whatever faction they join when doing the storyline. Faction Vendors are located in each city and the Iron Chisel can be grabbed so long as players have enough gold and faction points.

Eternal Heart

The Eternal Heart is arguably the most difficult item to obtain on this list depending on how lucky players are in obtaining the corrupted slivers. The heart itself must be crafted and takes the following materials to put together:

  • 50 x Soul Mote
  • 50 x Life Mote
  • 50 x Death Mote

These items can be grabbed by gathering from the appropriate nodes:

  • Soul Mote - Soulsprout, Soulspire, or Soulwyrm
  • Life Mote - Lifebloom, Lifecrag, or Lifemoth
  • Death Mote - Blightroot, Blightcrag, Blightmoth

Players will also need Level 25 in Stonecutting and once they've collected the materials can craft the Eternal Heart at any Stonecutting Table.

Corrupted Sliver

These can be a bit annoying to grab but players who are diligent in joining groups and purging the lands of corruption shouldn't have too much trouble getting the necessary amount for an Amrine Tuning Orb. Corruption Slivers will be awarded to players who take part in (and succeed) Major Corruption Events that will pop up around the World Map in various areas. It's important to note that these events change level depending on their zone and contain powerful enemies. It's best to attack these with a group and players should definitely ask for help when trying to clear them at a low level.

Stone Block

Stone Blocks are incredibly easy to grab and can be made by using regular stone at a Stonecutting Table. Getting stone is simple, just mine some (with a Pickaxe) from any of the boulders found scattered throughout each zone. It takes four stone to make one Stone Block, so players will need to gather approximately 200 stone before heading to a Stonecutting Table. It sounds like a lot, but it's much faster to gather this much stone than one would think.

Once players have all the materials, they can craft an Amrine Tuning Orb (at a Stonecutting Table with at least Level 15 in Stonecutting) to enter the dungeon. This process can be repeated as many times as a player wants. It's also important to note that only the player who actually "starts" a dungeon will have their Tuning Orb consumed. This means, even if the player is carrying a handful of Tuning Orbs within a group, they won't have their stock subtracted if another player in the crew begins the expedition.
