Splatoon 3 looks set to be one of Nintendo's biggest releases for 2022. With an upcoming release date in September, the second entry in the Splatoon franchise for the Nintendo Switch has been showing off more and more details about its gameplay, maps, and more. Earlier in July, Splatoon 3 gave fans a look at one of its new maps, Mincemeat Metalworks, a facility made from scrap metal that fans will be able to cover in paint when they load into the game.

Now, some new weapons join the expansive list of recently revealed Splatoon 3 content. As with Mincemeat Metalworks, the latest information on Splatoon 3 is coming to gamers via the Squid Research Lab, an official news series run by Nintendo that focuses on the Splatoon games. The latest bit of news fans have received from the Squid Research Lab revolves around two new weapons coming to Splatoon 3, the Octobrush and the Inkbrush, both of which are weapons designed similarly to paintbrushes.

The Inkbrush is stated to not be the most powerful weapon in Splatoon 3, but it is meant more for speedy advances to paint the map around the player. Also, according to the Squid Research Lab, the Inkbrush has access to "dizzying flourishes," which can "mess with opponents' heads." It's not exactly stated what these flourishes will equate to in the game, but it is likely that they will be related to the rapid-fire swings that can paint the face of the enemy in Splatoon 3.

Next is the Octobrush, a much heavier weapon that can also use the rapid-fire swings just like the Inkbrush, but uses up a lot more ink with each stroke. The Octobrush makes a big impact on the map when it is used, due to its high ink retention. Both of these weapons were previously available in Splatoon 2 with the Inkbrush being added as free DLC. While some fans have found this a bit disappointing because they wanted to see some new weapons to the franchise be featured, there are others who are happy to see their favorite brushes returning.

Previously, Nintendo has shown off some brand-new weapons for Splatoon 3, such as the Special Weapons like the Crab Tank and Zipcaster. Also, outside of in-game content, fans will also want to watch out for the exclusive Splatoon 3 OLED Switch, which features a paint splat on the sleek white design of the dock, along with purple and yellow Joy-Cons filled with art from the series.

Splatoon 3 launches on September 9 for Nintendo Switch.
