Ken Wakui’s Tokyo Revengers manga started its run in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine magazine in 2017. The series has amassed 24 collected volumes so far, and has inspired an ONA, live-action film, and spin-off manga.

A 24-episode anime adaptation aired during the Spring and Summer 2021 anime seasons on MBS, TV Tokyo, and TV Aichi. The series was produced by Liden Films and directed by Koichi Hatsumi, with Hiroaki Tsutsumi working on the music and Yasuyuki Mutō handling series composition.

Hatsumi is best known for his work on Deadman Wonderland, Gangsta, and Blue Exorcist: Kyoto Saga. Mutō most recently worked on the screenplay for the Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway film, and worked alongside Hatsumi on Deadman Wonderland. Tsutsumi has composed music for a variety of different anime over the years, with Dr. Stone and Jujutsu Kaisen standing as some of his most notable credits.

The Tokyo Revengers manga has over 40 million copies in circulation and won in the shōnen category for the 44th annual Kodansha Manga Award in 2020. The manga has also placed 9th in the 2021 Da Vinci magazine Book of the Year list, and won in the Yahoo! Japan Search Awards’ anime category.

Kodansha USA licenses the manga in English digitally, while Seven Seas Entertainment will handle the series’ print distribution with 2-in-1 omnibus paperbacks starting in May 2022. Crunchyroll streamed the anime as it aired and also streams its English dub.
