Apple Arcade surprised launched twenty new titles onto its subscription platform today, and among them is TMNT Splintered Fate. The Apple Arcade exclusive, developed by Super Evil Megacorp, is designed as a cooperative roguelike that puts the main Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles crew on an adventure to find their missing father, Master Splinter.
Playable with touch or controllers, TMNT Splintered Fate features quick brawling combat that is comparable to some of the easier roguelike titles out there. The game description promises that no two runs will feel the same. The turtle brothers will be continually upgraded as players attempt to rescue their father from the Foot Clan and Shredder.
Similar to TMNT: Shredder's Revenge, each turtle has specific stats and abilities unique to themselves. There are also a pair of inspiration attributes that can be swapped out and upgraded, as well as a tool ability that can be added to their arsenal. For instance, Raphael can be seen with a pair of perks applied that boost his critical hit chances and critical damage. In this build, he's also equipped with a hook tool that deals physical damage and pulls enemies in close for melee attacks. Michelangelo is seen in footage with an area of attack boost and multi-hit chance increases, as well as a taunt tool that doles out extra damage to stunned enemies.
There are many more inspirations and tools that can be found and equipped as players battle solo or cooperatively through the streets of NYC. Similar to other roguelikes like Hades, power-ups and room layouts are randomized. Familiar Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles foes will be plentiful, with Leatherhead, Beebop, Rocksteady, Karai, and Shredder confirmed among a few others.
TMNT Splintered Fate may turn out to be one of the best multiplayer titles on Apple Arcade, but it isn't the only original title to launch on the platform today. Artist Arcade and Disney are releasing a Disney themed crossword puzzle title in Disney SpellStruck. The creators of What the Golf?, Triband, are rolling out the new physics based car racer, What the Car?. And Magic Fuel Games' Cityscapes: Sim Builder, is an environmentally conscious take on the city building genre.
Outside the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game and other Arcade Originals, the rest of the twenty title list is pretty impressive too. These include Chess Universe, Disney Coloring World, Disney Getaway Blast, Farming Simulator 20, Getting Over It, Hill Climb Racing, Iron Marines, Kingdom Two Crowns, Limbo, My Town Home: Family Games, Octodad: Deadliest Catch, PPKP, Snake, Temple Run, Time Locker, and Very Little Nightmares. It's a lineup that should give gamers out there more reasons to give Apple Arcade a chance if they haven't already.
