The famous horror game series of Silent Hill is still beloved by horror fans and gamers alike. This is in spite of players not getting a taste of an official game since the Hideo Kojima's cancelled Silent Hills game, better known as PT.

As time goes on, there are fans that have lost all hope in seeing a brand new Silent Hill game officially. However, there are also many fans of the series that still believe in the possibility of a return to the quiet foggy town at least once more.

The hope of fans was recently sparked this past summer with the release of Dead by Daylight's Silent Hill DLC chapter. This DLC allowed for players to survive the realm of the entity as Cheryl Mason and kill survivors as the dreaded Pyramid Head. Many have taken this to meaning that Silent Hill will return on Sony's upcoming console, the PlayStation 5, and while that is somewhat possible, the very idea of a new Silent Hill game would accomplish a lot in a short time.

There have been many games announced for the PlayStation 5 so far. This includes a variety of horror games including the next installment in the Resident Evil series, Resident Evil: Village. However, there has been no word officially on Silent Hill coming back. If it were to be announced, it could cause the PlayStation 5 to become the dominating gaming console of 2021.

If a new Silent Hill were to come to the PlayStation 5, there would be a solid amount of gamers who would purchase the console with Silent Hill in mind. While there have been multiple PC ports of Silent Hill titles in the past, the majority of them stay on console. This would mean that a new Silent Hill would most likely stay a PlayStation 5 exclusive title, giving fans one big reason on top of many others to go with this next-gen console.

With the sheer amount of hype that would be behind Silent Hill's return, the question still remains on why there has been no hints or official words alluding to its release. The lack of even a teaser during the PlayStation 5 announcement streams could imply that there is nothing, so there really is no Silent Hill title coming. However, with the strangeness and uniqueness of Silent Hills' announcement via its playable trailer, it could be possible that the new game has something planned to try to live up to the announcement of the cancelled title.

If and when the next Silent Hill is announced, it will most likely come after the PlayStation 5's release. Whether or not its a playable trailer like Silent Hills is unknown, but its announcement will likely drive up the sales of the PlayStation 5 as soon as it occurs. If a playable trailer were to happen again, its existence itself would likely also drive up the sales of the console with many wanting to discover all of the secrets behind this new and upcoming title.

As many await for Silent Hill's return, the only thing that many players can do is wait and hope for the franchise's future. It is however very likely that Dead by Daylight won't be the last of the series that fans will see.

A new Silent Hill game is speculated to be in development.
