Actor Vin Diesel is perhaps best known for his role as Dominic Toretto in the Fast and Furious film franchise or for providing the voice of lovable Groot from Guardians of the Galaxy. However, some hardcore sci-fi fans will know him best as eyeshine prison-breaker Richard B. Riddick of the Riddick franchise.

Diesel has portrayed the Furyan a total of three times: in Pitch Black, The Chronicles of Riddick, and Riddick. There are also a pair of tie-in video games for the first two films in the form of The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay and The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena, both of which are some of the most sought after games yet to receive backward compatibility.

In a recent interview with GamesRadar+ regarding the latest Fast film, F9, the actor provided an update about a fourth Riddick movie as well as the potential for another Riddick video game. Diesel says that franchise director and longtime collaborator David Twohy already has a great script written, but that it's "just a matter of timing" as to when an opportunity to film it will actually arise. The movie star goes on to acknowledge the franchises successful video game entries, theorizing that the impending fourth film installment would once again come with a game that ties in to its events. "I imagine we would take advantage of the gaming space an add an extra chapter."

Gamers should take this with a grain of salt, however, as this isn't the first time Diesel has claimed the possibility of a new Riddick video game. Shortly after the release of the third film in the series, 2013's Riddick, Vin Diesel at the time confirmed a Chronicles of Riddick MMO was being produced. The title was intended to revolve around the universe's merc trade on a grand scale. Given no further headlines are easily findable after the initial announcement, the game likely never made it past the planning stages, a fate Diesel will surely attempt to avoid a second time.

Despite Diesel's characters oftentimes having a bit of a hyper-masculine persona, the actor himself has a well-established love for gaming, fantasy, and most things considered "nerdy." It's fairly common knowledge that the 2015 film The Last Witch Hunter stemmed largely from talks with screenwriters about his Dunegons & Dragons Witch Hunter character. He also famously played World of Warcraft with Ronda Rousey every night after they finished filming on the set of Fast and Furious 7, playing as a Druid class.

Although it doesn't sound like there are any concrete plans currently in place for another Riddick video game, the fact a film script is finalized and ready to go is assuring that at the very least, fans are getting another movie. While either piece of media appears to still be years away, players can play as Diesel in ARK 2, a game which he's also actively working on.
