After over 20 years of waiting, Pokemon fans have finally received the Pokemon Snap sequel of their dreams with New Pokemon Snap on the Nintendo Switch. The game has already released to fan and critical praises, even outpacing the original 1999 title 4 times over in the UK. Fans have been hard at working snapping pics of over 200 Pokemon spanning across all 8 generations in the all-new Lental region.

Of course, much like its predecessor, New Pokemon Snap is full of Easter eggs and surprises for fans to discover, from hidden Legendary Pokemon, to the return of Todd Snap from the Nintendo 64 title, and unlockable courses as well. Now, it looks like some keen-eyed fans have discovered that some artwork in the new game looks to point to the latest Pokemon anime movie.

While looking around the lab in New Pokemon Snap, fans noticed some oddly familiar-looking photos up on the wall, which were eventually determined to be of landscapes straight from the newest Pokemon movie, Pokemon the Movie: Coco (also known as Pokemon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle overseas). A loading screen in New Pokemon Snap also hints that Professor Mirror's assistant Rita took those photos in a different Pokemon region.

With the help of users KiddyKongFacts and PinkGermy, popular pixel artist and streamer TAHK0 revealed that the photos from Pokemon the Movie: Coco look to be of a certain large tree, a Pokemon Center, and the Biotope Company building. Upon further investigation, it seems that Rita from New Pokemon Snap was actually teased in Pokemon the Movie: Coco very briefly, as she could be seen as an extra during a scene where Ash and company are looking at a sunset. It's worth noting that while the newest Pokemon anime movie debuted in Japan last December, it has yet to debut overseas as Pokemon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle.

Ever since Pokemon first exploded in popularity in the late '90s, the franchise has been known to release annual anime movies featuring new characters, Legendary monsters, and more. Occasionally, new movies will also include teases for upcoming Pokemon games or even brand new Pokemon, such as movies that have teased Marill and the Zygarde Core in the past, as noted by TAHK0.

After being announced last summer in a Pokemon Presents video presentation, fans seem more than happy to finally get their hands on New Pokemon Snap. And while perhaps the series' most anticipated spinoff title has officially released now, fans are surely already looking forward to Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl later this year.

New Pokemon Snap is available now on Nintendo Switch.
