While New Pokemon Snap is filled with lots of different Pokemon, players are also tasked with the study of a special kind of plant life. This plant is known as a Crystabloom, and it grows in different colors all over the Lental region, no matter the environment.
What makes Crystablooms so special is their connection to the Illumina effect introduced in New Pokemon Snap. Illumina causes Pokemon and Crystablooms to glow with light and burst with life energy, affecting both of their surroundings.
Players can trigger Illlumina themselves through the Illumina orbs given to them by Professor Mirror. He however needs a photo of an island's Crystabloom while it's glowing first in order to create an Illumina orb for that specific island. Unlocking these Illumina orbs are key to discovering all there is to find in New Pokemon Snap.
Eventually, players will be told to find a glowing Crystabloom in the Lental Seafloor course. Finding this should allow players to use Illumina Orbs on both the Maricopia Reef and Blushing Beach stages as well as the Lental Seafloor stage. It however is a much different challenge than the other islands.
Finding Frillish
In order to unlock the pink Illumina Orbs, players need to find Frillish. It can be found at both levels one and two of the Lental Seafloor with players only needing Fluffruit to lure it out. Its location however isn't obvious to those who aren't looking for it.
As players travel through the Lental Seafloor, they will eventually come across a Wailmer making loud calls at different Pokemon. Once players start to get near the Wailmer, they should look toward their right and keep their eyes out for what seems to be an empty cave. Frillish is in it and can be lured out with Fluffruit.
After players get it in sight, they can see that it is affected by Illumina. Taking a photo of this Frillish will have the same effect as taking a picture of a glowing Crystabloom for the first time and unlock Illumina Orbs for the area after finishing the course.
Pink Illumina Orbs
Once players get back to the lab, they will get free access to the Illumina orbs for Lental Seafloor, Blushing Beach, and Maricopia Reef. These orbs can be used back on the Lental Seafloor with any of the Crystablooms there so players can finally take a picture of a glowing one for the professor.
The Crystablooms of the Lental Seafloor can affect many things after players are able to activate them. They just need to make sure they aim correctly and quickly in order to snag important photo opportunities.
